If you need a handy reference for your web publishing needs I have spent a few days pulling together the best tools I use and know-of that I would recommend to use, in an organized and curated link directory of over 70 different categories.

From "landing page builders" to "survey tools" and "domain name finders" I have you covered.

In general, I have limited the amount of tools and services listed per category to the top 5 I know as to serve also as a curated filter for the vast number of choices available out there.

This is definitely a work in progress as you need to continuously edit, refine and improve a directory like this to make it really useful. You are welcome to suggest tools and services that I have not included and I'll make sure that if they are valid ones they get their space too.

Free to access.

To Be a Great Leader, You Have to Learn How to Delegate Well

To Be a Great Leader, You Have to Learn How to Delegate Well | Transformations in Business & Tourism | Scoop.it

One of the most difficult transitions for leaders to make is the shift from doing to leading. As a new manager you can get away with holding on to work. Peers and bosses may even admire your willingness to keep “rolling up your sleeves” to execute tactical assignments. But as your responsibilities become more complex, the difference between an effective leader and a super-sized individual contributor with a leader’s title is painfully evident.

In the short term you may have the stamina to get up earlier, stay later, and out-work the demands you face. But the inverse equation of shrinking resources and increasing demands will eventually catch up to you, and at that point how you involve others sets the ceiling of your leadership impact. The upper limit of what’s possible will increase only with each collaborator you empower to contribute their best work to your shared priorities. Likewise, your power decreases with every initiative you unnecessarily hold on to.

Three Work Tasks You Need To Cut From Your To-Do List Right Now

Three Work Tasks You Need To Cut From Your To-Do List Right Now | Transformations in Business & Tourism | Scoop.it

Some days you get to work early, work nonstop, and head home without being able to figure out what you actually accomplished. Everything rushes past you in a blur of emails, meetings, and errands, and your to-do list remains more or less untouched. You’re always going to have a few workdays like this no matter what you do. But if they start happening regularly, you may have a problem on your hands.

If that’s the case, then it’s time to start looking for systematic failures, not just one-off fumbles. And ironically enough, the best place to look may be at your to-do list itself. What better record do you have of the tasks that you’re consistently failing to achieve? These are a few common to-do list items that might be getting in the way of your more important goals. If you can cut them out–even just for a day or two–you may be able to regain your footing.

So you begin work on that major report, only to find yourself 20 minutes later flitting between your email, your text messages, and maybe two other tasks on top of that. You’re always going to have a few workdays like this no matter what you do. But if they start happening regularly, you may have a problem on your hands."

Google Docs is one of the great apps I have explored during my learning experience. I remember that when I was at school, most of my teachers suggested us to start using it since it is very easy to use and manage. However, I did not have a computer and I did not like the idea of doing homeworks by the computer. To me, homeworks were better at hand, but through the years, I started becoming aware about the advantages of using this app.
In my school, there was an attempt to develop and enhance cooperative work since most of the parents were arguing that they did not want their children to do homeworks in others friends` houses, for them, it was better to start using the computer as a way to perform tasks with no moving from their home in their free time.
I really love this app because it facilitates the development of tasks , optimizes time and enhances the cooperation among partners .
It is significant to recognize that this great app is now taking place in different settings due to the features it provides. It is a powerful tool in academic scenarios because it promotes autonomy, cooperative work and responsibility.
Some years ago, it just provided the feature of sharing documents and editing some aspects of the text, but now that technology has settled into many contexts, google docs provide more features to correct, align and adjust the document.

5 Strategies for Team Brainstorming to Use in Your Next Meeting

5 Strategies for Team Brainstorming to Use in Your Next Meeting | Transformations in Business & Tourism | Scoop.it

Team brainstorming seems like a good idea--at least, on paper. What usually happens is this: the company is experiencing a tough problem that no single person seems able to solve, so someone decides that more minds means more processing power, and before you know it you're all gathered in the conference room.

One or two people churn out bad idea after bad idea, while everyone else stares at the wall or multitasks. There are no major breakthroughs and most of you are irritated at the waste of time.

Sound familiar? Why is this such a problem?

There is always a dark side to things. When we accept only one way to think about the tools we use, we fall victim to the dark side.
Oskar Almazan's curator insight, September 30, 10:07 AM
The future looks bright for the IoT; however, it still is problematic when it comes to loopholes in user privacy and security. If proper boundaries could be set up to protect users from manufacturers using the excuse that they can use data because a user is using their software license, then the IoT could seem like a safer environment. Some of these issues are being changed thanks to algorithmic security, but ultimately it’s up to you to read the fine print to ensure your privacy and security rights.

Gust MEES's curator insight, October 2, 8:44 AM

With the IoT, we see everything has become internet-connected in some way. This has its benefits, but its dangers as well. Recently, hackers stole 10 gigabytes worth of data from a casino by hacking through a casino’s fish tank. The fish tank’s cleaner was connected to the internet to measure sensors, temperature and cleanliness, but left the door open for the casino’s network.

This is only one example of the dangers of IoT, and there are still many issues out there that people need to be aware of. Today, we will go deeper problematic areas of the IoT so you can become aware of its dangers.
