This is a great source if you're wanting to go to Seattle Central Community College and want to plan out your schedule. Since each Community College offers a slightly different array of classes, it is important to know what the college offers and what they don't offer.

This is an important link if you are trying to get into Seattle Central CC's Culinary Arts program. This is a list of the requirements needed to fulfill before applying to the program and steps on how to actually go about applying to the program.

As you can see, there are not many requirements -- the requirements are very similar to that of the College itself.

Stephanie Le's insight:

I may be interested in transferring to Seattle Central Community College from Cascadia Community College to complete my Assiociate's degree before transferring to a four-year university.  Since schools' requirements vary, this page provides me with information that is necessary to successfully earning my Assiciate's degree from Seattle Central.

Without researching this college's credit requirements to earn a trasferrable Associate's Degree, I would not have noticed the slight difference in requirements between Cascadia Community College and Seattle Central Community College.  Knowing this ahead of time before I enroll is important for me so that I can plan ahead.

TransferStudentRightsandResponsibilities.pdf

Stephanie Le's insight:

This resource is very important to those that are transferring from a community college to Western Washington University.  This is a specific outline of what is expected of both the student and the school.

This document eliminates confusion and enables both parties to come to an understanding of what actions should be taken by both the school and the student.  To avoid complications during the transferring process, then a student should refer to this file.

My Thoughts:

I found this to be a very important resource because being a transfer student I need to know my rights and responsibilites just as any other student would. The Colleges and Universitites themselves also have rights and responsibilites when it comes to their transfer students, so I believe it is very important that I know what is expected of both me and the university. This document gave a very clear outline for both parties. I like this source very much becuase knowing my rights and responsibilities now will help me succeed further down the road in my transfer process.

Stephanie Le's insight:

These are the expected learning outcomes of completing the Specialty Desserts and Breads program.  Seattle Central CC prides itself as one of the first culinary schools that offer formal training in sustainability within the program.

This is an important page because it tells you exactly what you are expected to get out of the program, at the very least.  These learning outcomes will help you decide if the program is right for you or not if you are looking to gain something in specific from a culinary arts program.

This is an option that I didn't know was offered by Seattle Central Community College, and I've always been interested in studying culinary arts. Through this six-quarter program, I will have the opportunity to earn an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences that my be transferrable to four-year colleges, and I have to meet with an advisor to get specifics about transferring to a university.

This program has tons of hands-on training including courses that involve baking and preparing foods for student-run restaurants around campus. This is a really great opportunity that is worth considering!

This is a VERY important piece of information for comunity college students (in Washington) looking to transfer to a Washington university.  This document shows all the priotiry dates and deadlines of all of the universityies in Washington as well as what documents you are required to have ready to sumbit when you are applying.

This resource shows that a lot of colleges have varying transfer guidelines and expectations, so it is certainly important to be aware of these requirements and keep them in mind as you are applying as a transfer student to make sure that there aren't any complications that may delay your admission.

Western Washington University

Stephanie Le's insight:

This link is a Transfer Course Equivalency Guide that will help you discover which of your course credits will transfer well from a community college to Western Washington University.  This source allows you to see what classes are equivalent to the course that was taken at a community college.

Some may find that certain classes from community colleges do not transfer over to a university well (especially out-of-state community colleges), so this is a very important resource if you are thinking of transferring to Western Washington University.
