Karen E's insight:

Great suggestions for what I call "facilitated blogging" -- recognizes your client's expertise (great when getting started and you're not an expert in their space). Also good suggestions for repurposing content into multiple formats.

How Google Author Rank could change content marketing… and journalism

How Google Author Rank could change content marketing… and journalism | Town Square Marketing | Scoop.it
Here’s a little piece of SEO nerdery that affects us all: Google is using Google+ to influence search results in a big way, and brands and media organizations alike have yet to wake up to the...
Karen E's insight:

This is good information and something I've been stewing over.  How does a small business sucessfully manage across all the "necessary" social media platforms - AND still have time to run their business? I understand search engines' need to deliver the most relevant results to searchers, but is it possible for small business to meet the demands? Big brands have teams to manage this...how can local, small biz keep up? Your thoughts?

GREAT arguments FOR social media marketing -- which stems, of course, from CONTENT marketing. Consider these tidbits, but read through the entire article -- it's a quick read, and worth it.

Only 12% of businesses described social media promotion as a must and nearly 50% of respondents aren’t using social media at all.

And yet:

The Word of Mouth Marketing Association notes that 81% of consumers are influenced by a friend’s social media post and that 92% of consumers trust product recommendations from friends and family more than any other type of marketing.

So why aren't businesses focused on social? Here's what they say:

-- too busy

-- don't know how

-- uncertain of benefits

Wow - HUGE opportunity here!

9 Hot Tips for Small Business Marketing on Facebook | Social Media ... | Town Square Marketing | Scoop.it

I agree with most of these tips...with the exception of using Third-Party services (like HootSuite) to facilitate posts. I say pick the platforms that your audience uses most and then manage it manually (you can plan out posts in a spreadsheet and then it's quick and easy to log on a post). That said, my approach is manage facebook and feed twitter (facebook allows you to link you twitter account...)
