resource-efficiency
hayley blunden's insight:

It is very important that we raise awareness to environmentally damaged areas due to tourism, as the environment its self plays a massive impact and attracts tourist to certain places and countries. Regulatory movements help offset negative impacts that have significant effect on the tourism industry such as; controlling the number of tourist and movement of visitors within protected areas can limit impacts on the ecosystem and help maintain the integrity and vitality of the site. Some tourists specifically travel to see the environment e.g. Great Barrier Reef and so it is significantly important we do our best to keep the quality of the environment especially natural environments preserved and damaged free. It will also keep benefiting the tourism industry.

Industrial action fact sheet - Workplace rights - Fact sheets - Resources - Fair Work Ombudsman

hayley blunden's insight:

The key in industrial work action is to achieve productivity and fairness in the workplace. Industrial action can take several forms. Employees may go on strike e.g.. refuse to attend or perform work, impose work bans e.g. refuse to perform all their normal duties. In response to employee industrial action, employers may lock out their employees e.g. close the doors or gates of a workplace and refuse to allow them to work. The fair work ombudsman role is to investigate allegations of contraventions of the industrial action provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009 e.g. any adverse action taken against a person in relation to their right to engage in industrial activities, industrial action taken prior to the nominal expiry date of an existing industrial agreement etc. This is a great and effective piece of legislation important to the tourism industry.

This law shows great effect in protecting children victimised of sexual offences, and Australians who commit these offences in other countries can still expect to get tough penalties as they would if it happened hear In Australia. It is great to hear that a number of Australians have been successfully prosected under these laws, as it is such a disgusting matter and issue happening worldwide.

MH370 fallout 'will hurt' Malaysian tourism | Asia | DW.DE | 10.04.2014 | Source and use information on the tourism and travel industry; evidence | Scoop.it
More than a month after vanishing, the whereabouts of Flight MH370 remain a mystery. The incident has also led to anti-Malaysian sentiment in China which is having an impact on economic ties, says economist Rajiv Biswas.
hayley blunden's insight:

As 12% of Malaysia tourist population is made up of Chinese and with over 200 Chinese passengers on the missing Malaysian flight, the Malaysia Tourist industry is dropping and is putting the Malaysian Tourism industry is great economic risk. Not only have the Chinese cancelled their plans to go over there in the near future and fly with their airlines, so have people from countries all around the world, as this issue is being seen worldwide, giving an negative effect on travelling to Malaysia.

FairGoComplianceInfo.pdf

hayley blunden's insight:

In the tourism industry it is very important to be aware of what is considered a lawful practice. If you breach the law and work in non-compliance, then is it possible that you and your manager will be held liable for your actions.  Consequences of non-compliance can lead to disputes, legal proceedings, fines or penalties.

Examples of non-compliance in the tourism industry include;

-False advertising of products

-Not having fair trading in place

-Employees not having their RSA and working with alcohol

-Non-compliance to WHS

-Hidden surcharge or fees

-Downgrading of the itinerary

I believe that every employee and business in the tourism industry should work with compliance and fair trading, creating a professional environment and that no clients should have to worry about being caught up in unlawful practices when planning a holiday.

03AC061.pdf

hayley blunden's insight:

this act binds all persons including state and the commonwealth. The main act of this legislation is to provide fair trading in the tourism industry for inbound tour operator and tour guides, creating a ethical and professional way, and all best interests of clients. It works to eliminate unfair practices such as restricting the choice of shopping venues, taking control of tourists' passport and wallets, misrepresentation, overcharging for goods and services etc. This act prohibits inbound tour operators and tour guides in QLD engaging in unconscionable conduct and this regulation requires you to keep records and other documents, including accounting records for seven years. Which I think is a great idea. And inbound tour operators must be registered as a business, which is important as it is giving a good name to the tourism industry and you no its a business you can trust.

hayley blunden's insight:

It is very important that business in the tourism industry work cooperatively together to allow packaging to work effectively, giving the clients what they want and giving them a satisfactory holiday. It is also great for your tourism business as the business benefits from packaging, achieving great economic status and provides opportunities to promote and raise the profile of your tourism business.

E.g.

( a travel package that contains accommodation and attractions but doesn't include transport to and from these venues, will negatively effect the way the travel package works and will demonstrate sectors not working cooperatively together to make the travel industry successful)

Industry Spotlight: Technology in the Travel and Tourism Industry

Industry Spotlight: Technology in the Travel and Tourism Industry | Source and use information on the tourism and travel industry; evidence | Scoop.it
The travel and tourism industry is largely affected by trends in technology, and those companies in the industry that stay abreast of the technology trends tend to stay ahead of the pack. In today’s tough economy, travel and tourism companies are innovating new ways to reach out to consumers. The market is tight, and consumers are becoming more and more price conscious. Using technology can be an effective and efficient way of reaching a new audience.
hayley blunden's insight:

my review -

Emerging technology is trending world-wide and is increasingly getting used in the tourism and travel industry. Technology is growing and changing all the time. As most people now have smart phones you can access almost anything to do with travel and tourism from phones. This benefits customers as you are able to download apps straight from your phone no matter where you are, such as Trip View which allows you to display Sydney’s Train, Bus, Ferries timetable data straight from your phone, and all leading airlines such as Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar all have their own apps too. Straight from your mobile phone you can also use the internet to check yourself in for flights on the way to the airport again benefiting customers as its saving the hassle of lining up in the huge airport lines and if your running that. All these new emerging technologies are making travelling and the tourism industry’s more convenient. With all these emerging technology soring, it makes you wonder what is next to come and how much more it can improve!!
