Kylie Dufty's curator insight, November 18, 2014 8:59 PM

This resource contains images and scans of original documents relating to Chinese people in Australia during the gold rush period.

It also contains information about first contact between Australia and the Chinese, Chinese in Australia as workers and who the Chinese people were who came to Australia.

Some of the information is dense but the images are valuable and students can scan for headings relevant to their research and skim the content for key words.

Asia Literacy and the Australian Teaching Workforce | Thinking in Education | Scoop.it

"As the Asian Century unfolds, a key driver of Australia’s successful engagement with the region will be the creation of an education workforce that can cultivate Asia literacy with all young Australians.
This is a major finding in a recently-completed report, Asia Literacy and the Australian Teaching Workforce, launched at the Asia Education Foundation National Conference 2013 at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium, 12-14 August.."
