In Memory of Eli Goldratt - The Father of Theory of Constraints

In Memory of Eli Goldratt - The Father of Theory of Constraints | Theory of Constraints (Engpasstheorie) | Scoop.it
Eli Goldratt (Eliyahu M Goldratt) was an educator, author, scientist, philosopher, and business leader. But he was, first and foremost, a thinker who provoked others to think. Often characterized as unconventional, stimulating, and "a slayer of sacred cows,” Dr. Goldratt exhorts his audience to examine and reassess their business practices with a fresh, new vision.

Evaluating Demand Driven MRP: a case based simulated study | Roy Stratton & Mathias Ihme - 2018

Evaluating Demand Driven MRP: a case based simulated study Mathias Ihme and Roy Stratton from Nottingham Trent University Abstract Th is study evaluates the assumption underpinning Material Requirements Planning (MRP), buffer management and DDMRP before analysing the case company and evaluating the potential benefits, utilizing simulated data from the existing ERP system. The purpose of this research is to evaluate DDMRP in the context of improving the performance of a printing ink manufacturing company. The main issues the company is facing using a traditional MRP system include poor due - date performance, stock levels not corresponding to the actual market needs and overall system instability leading to inefficiencies. The findings indicate the potential of DDMRP to improve system stability and product availability.

Raw Thoughts on the Management Attention Constraint | Eli Schragenheim

Raw Thoughts on the Management Attention Constraint | Eli Schragenheim  | Theory of Constraints (Engpasstheorie) | Scoop.it
Goldratt called management attention the ultimate constraint, meaning after elevating the other constraints, including the market demand by establishing a decisive-competitive-edge, then the pace of growth of the organization is still limited by the capacity of management attention. How much attention can a person give in a period of time? The term itself is elusive…

Impact of more than one Constraint | Rudi Burkhard

Impact of more than one Constraint | Rudi Burkhard | Theory of Constraints (Engpasstheorie) | Scoop.it
The original P-Q Experiment Goldratt frequently used this experiment as part of his presentations. Before introducing the thought experiment, he would usually present and discuss his 5 focusing steps listed here: 1. Identify the constraint of the system. 2. Decide how to exploit the constraint. 3. Subordinate everything else to the above decision. 4. If you cannot extract any more from the constraint, elevate (expand) it. 5. If during any of the previous steps the constraint is broken (has moved to another location) go back to step 1. BUT do not let your inertia become the systems constraint!

Change and the Partnership Paradigm by Rob Newbold | Theory of Constraints (Engpasstheorie) | Scoop.it
Rob continues the discussion he began at the 2016 International TOCICO conference by describing a radical departure from traditional change management approaches: stop trying to change people, and instead find ways to work with them to achieve common goals. He will describe how this “partnership paradigm” is becoming accepted in fields as diverse as education, medicine, and counter-insurgency. He will present a process for implementing it, and will talk about how it can be applied to consulting and the spread of TOC. There will be time for questions and discussion.

Operating expenses represent the financial cost required to provide the capacity for all the required resources with the appropriate capabilities, required for generating the value to customers that would be able to generate the T. Contrary to popular myths and literature, Realization Technologies’ experience from more than 350 multi-project implementations and more than 2,000 large, standalone projects is that benefits of CCPM do not arise from buffer aggregation. They accrue from changing the mode of operation from “Spread Resources Thin” to “Focus and Finish”. Sanjeev Gupta, Founder and CEO of Realization, shares his views on CCPM Buffers in this light. Specifically,
