Suitable for primary and secondary students. " Think before you act'

Evette Christofides's insight:

A simple yet very effective poster to be used within the digital classroom. Encouraging students to "think before they act" in reference to the online world and how they interact with a number of new literacies and social media. The poster, or more specifically, the questions on the poster are a very insightful guide or scaffold to help students navigate their way through digital media and really pay attention to the information they are reading and posting or releasing.

Evette Christofides's insight:

My prac class last year did a lot of work using QR codes and I must say the students absolutely loved it. They can be used to check answers, find new resources online ( managing where kids are searching), developing vocabulary, scavenger hunts...my prac class even used QR codes to send invitations for a farmer's market etc. Options are endless and fantastic!

Evette Christofides's insight:

Aimed at stage 2 and above, however concepts of digital citizenship are very relevant for all students. These videos are clever ways to introduce how we interact with the digital world, the dangers we should be aware of and the ways in which we should go about sharing our information and ideas. The "Twitter" door

The "Twitter" door | The digital classroom! | Scoop.it
Evette Christofides's insight:

Students can write up tweets about something they have learnt during the day, something they enjoyed or something they would like to ask or share. A great idea to not only connect everyday learning to social media, but also allows the teacher to have some sort of classroom management so that all students get an equal opportunity to post etc. Also the teaching and learning feedback opportunities are endless!!

Elessa Mavridis's curator insight, April 2, 2014 4:34 AM

Love this idea as it gives students an opportunity to reflect on their learning. Without actually physically using technology, this idea uses the excitement of a concept of digital media to motivate, and connect with students through a medium that they are increasingly becoming more familiar with, and are most likely more interested in. For students to understand what a twitter update is, and then use it to comment on their learning, demonstrates the modern day significance of digital literacy.
