Eugene Pangaea's insight:

In this article rick explains his outlook on the changing  of music consumption and how it's not dead we just have to approach it differently in the future with psoitive and critical thinking.

(PRO) his positive approach on music sales in the digital age are good, rather it be for an artist who comes out with a hit single or a hit album. The key is trying to find new ways to sell it to the consumers with different tactics because as he states "people love music and are willing to pay" for good music. Labels need to start doing whats best for the artist becasue it would be best for all of us.

(CON) with the internet, streaming and downloading the record business has took a major down fall and labels are becoming absolute in most cases. What that being said I think we should get away from fascism and more to the free market where real artist make good quality music, stream it and let the consumers decide what the worth is. Because there are so many people in the industry that suck but have money backing them to be seen more in the public eye with videos and radio play. "music is an Art" and most artist say that but if there wasn't money involved would you still do it? my point is when ever you're not doing something from the heart it isn't real and doesn't last for ever, I think thats why so many artist come and go because they just want money and fame. so it's not the marketing, production or social advertising we need to fix it should start from the root and that would be the people making the music.

Eugene Pangaea's insight:

this long article really breaks down the journey of rick rubins career from his dorm room days starting def jam, getting his 1st credits on LL Cool J's album "radio" to working with public enemy and many more. it goes deeper into how he crossed over to hip hop in his high school days because he was the only punk fun. he is a man of many faces and truly has perfected his craft but always keeps an open mind to discover more.

When Rick Rubin first came on the scene, things were a lot different in hip-hop especially in terms of racial barriers.
Eugene Pangaea's insight:

This interview is about rick rubin being the first white guy or the only white guy on the hip hop scene at a time and being jewish. Russell and ll cool j couldn't believe he wasn't black after meeting for the first time, but as you know music has no color its just audio waves that we can all enjoy.

Eugene Pangaea's insight:

This was a great article about mediation and finding inter peace and how a lot of entrepreneurs use it to be more in tune and making better discussions. Rick ruben has been called the zen master of productions for he is know for meditation and keeping high spirits which reflects his amazing work. I meditate myself and I found that it really keeps me going because we live in a fast, crazy and stressful world so it is alwasy good to be a peace with yourself.
