Yale Environment 360: Scientists Use Ancient Gene To Create Salt-Tolerant Wheat Variety

Yale Environment 360: Scientists Use Ancient Gene To Create Salt-Tolerant Wheat Variety | The Zeitgeist Movement | Scoop.it

"Australian scientists have crossed a popular variety of wheat with an ancient species, producing a salt-tolerant variety they say could help reduce food shortages in the world’s arid and semi-arid regions. Using a genetic variation that had been lost in plants due to domestication before it was rediscovered a decade ago, the researchers say they were able to boost yields of durum wheat by 25 percent in salty soils."

"ZeitNews, a Technology Team Application. News stories about our scientific and technological capabilities to build a better world."

Excerpt from the site...

Hello!
Today I bring to your attention the following article on LEGS.
Robotic ones.

This is a proposal that has a lot of potential in creating a better enviroment and actually raise the standar of living in our cities.
Legs are so much better!
I rather go into a green patch than paved roads... and for that, legs are always so much better!
If we used legs instead of wheels to move our transportation, we wouldn't need so much concrete on our streets, no maintainable infrastructure needed, all the rainwater back in the ground...

You name it!
There's a big list of PRO's to consider.
But in respect for the truth, the optimal city transportation will always be: trains, subways or if ever gets world wide implemented... Maglevs!

No need to make them go so fast within the city... ;P
I kind of like to see the landscape...

No More Résumés, Say Some Firms

No More Résumés, Say Some Firms | The Zeitgeist Movement | Scoop.it

"Some companies are skipping résumés, saying the staid requirement doesn't provide much depth about a job candidate."

Excerpt from the article...

Hi! It's me again...

I'm bringing to your attention today an issue that will make you think twice at the time of searching for a job.

Your social life at Internet might be a "resource" for any human resources office at any company.

Who are you doesn't fit in a piece of paper... Never did.

And that's the real topic for me when it comes to the article's issues above linked.

Probably now we're going to be more careful about the issues we deal with trough our social networks.
It could even become a trending to create "private" sites for our "real self" that has to be hiding from the labour world.

But for sure that kind of behaviour it's going to be in detriment of our "actual" possibility of getting hired since it's more important these days to, not only be resourceful in our skills but also sympathetic & emphatic with our co-workers and their needs.
With our attitudes at work to say the least.

A wider view is growing between "HR" people.
They are more interested today in finding those that can work at ease within the company, not only workers with knowledge of their trade.

So be sure to clean your image, it doesn't mean you have to become someone else, just show people what's really important about yourself.
Enhance your goals in life sort of speaking through those Facebook, Yahoo, G+ accounts; they will be watched by "HR" in order to make the desicion of hiring you or not.

And here's my take on it... Marketing, baby!! Pure evil marketing!!

You're going to be happy to get the chance to measure the reach of every little company with details.
It's bad enough that we don't get to use a "I don't like this" choice at FB, now we're going to rate only the positive but scalated into "WANT", "LOVE" &"BOUGHT!!???"

Talking about rating people & lifestyles!

How much I want or love what I own is the background of all of it for the use to get better into selling us more of the same fix.

Shouldn't we get to use the whole scale to be fair for once?

"One of Mexico's most famous exports, El Chavo del Ocho is more than just a sitcom."

"The finances of El Chavo are equally astonishing. Since it ceased production in 1992, the show earned an estimated $1.7 billion in syndication fees for Televisa, which owns the audiovisual rights to the series, with reruns on regular TV accounting for $1.5 billion of that amount, while the remaining revenue came from cable. El Chavo made 1,300 episodes during its 24-year run, which means that each half-hour episode has earned more than $1.3 million so far..."

Davos wowed by device that reads 'code of life' in hours | Biotechnology | The Zeitgeist Movement | Scoop.it

"It was the talk of Davos, grabbing the imagination of a forum otherwise shrouded in gloom: a miracle machine that cracks the code of life within hours and could revolutionise healthcare.Patients will no longer have to wait weeks to know if they have cancer and their doctors will know immediately what kind of disease they have, allowing them to target therapies precisely and to avoid harmful delays or mistakes."

Excerpt from the article...

I once, when I first started reading and finding more about 3D printing being used at medical research for "printing" new organs; I told you to start considering the real possibility that OUR GENERATION will be the first one TO BE JUDGE by the following one.
And of course I'm not meaning our sons and daugthers but their children and grandchildren.
People, that our society in general, never thinks about them.
They where never in the equation.

We destroyed and plundered the planet without any consideration for them.
But now with this kind of technology that so far (it's spected to get cheaper) do an entire human genome for less than 1,000 dollars.

Plus 3D printing or the so called "new harvesting technics" where the desire medical needs are gathered trough different other procedures.
All of that and many, many other scientifical discoveries and new developments are actually placing US in risk, as I said before, to be judge.
And even if it is only a moral judgement by their side without an actual sentence in no prision... I want to be able to say I tried and never quit.
Because I'll know what really happend 100, 120 years ago when I was young and could haved changed OUR world.
History will be in our experience for real. We'll become living history.

No victors to "extreme make-up" our lives and ways will help us.

Live well and do more.
