Robert Felix Lindley Jr.'s curator insight, April 12, 2014 1:05 AM

I enjoyed reading this passage about the Parthenon. It really went in depth with the buildings history even including the names of the main architects and figureheads that helped it come to exist. It stated that the Roman's were inspired by this type of architecture for one of there libraries, going back to what was mentioned in class that Greek architecture has inspired later and modern architecture of all kinds as well. It is a pity that humans were careless during war two or three centuries ago. It used to be the home of several festivals and other religions as well. I found it funny that it was built to honor a the goddess Athena and then when Christianity took over it was used as a building to worship the Virgin Mary, another female holy figure. We are lucky to still have it as it is.
