The Most Dangerous Game

The Most Dangerous Game | "The Most Dangerous Game" | Scoop.it
Check out this great listen on Audible.com. Why do you suppose some combat veterans give up the sport of hunting? Is it because they gain empathy with the hunted, or hunting a prey less cunning than they has lost its allure.

'The Hunger Games' explores society without humanity, empathy

'The Hunger Games' explores society without humanity, empathy | "The Most Dangerous Game" | Scoop.it

I never read this as an action movie or a thriller," Lawrence helpfully chimes in. "I read it as a drama, and one that was incredibly important for our generation. It has a powerful message that I'm proud to back.

It's important to see what happens to society when we lose touch with our humanity. When we lose our empathy, the result is we have this generation that's obsessed with reality television, eating popcorn while we watch people's lives fall apart. So the message is, don't lose touch with humanity.

I cant believe that we dont have enough money for TAFE teacher jobs or for training in Fine Art but we do have enough money (plenty of it) for the Game Council. I suggest you write to Adam Marshall about this issue.

20 years to save king of jungle

20 years to save king of jungle | "The Most Dangerous Game" | Scoop.it
As few as 3,000 powerful male lions with their glorious flowing manes and bellowing roars are left on their wild African domains and their numbers look destined to continue crashing because of the popularity of big game hunting.

Conflict with livestock farmers and disease has already taken a heavy toll of the big cat, sending its numbers plummeting by 90 per cent since the early Sixties...

...in what may sound the animal’s death knell, its bones are now in demand from the traditional Asian medicine trade.

With tigers already teetering on the edge of extinction and heavily protected under international laws, legally obtained lion bones are becoming an alternative to be crushed into all manner of lotions and potions.

Such are the fears for the fate of the majestic big cat that the British Government has this week provided vital funding for a “Lion Summit” in Africa.

This Exists: A Summer Camp Based on The Hunger Games | TIME.com | "The Most Dangerous Game" | Scoop.it

"I don't want to kill you," sighed one camper...

As the camp week progressed, counselors and the camp director grew concerned about the violence that the kids were expressing and counselors had to keep reminding the day campers that there would be no actual violence and no fight to the death. The camp’s head counselor, Lindsey Gillette, told the Tampa Bay Times that “the violence the kids had expressed was off-putting.” Half-way through the week-long exercise, the camp decided to re-think its mission and focus instead on team-building activities, which suited participants just fine. If only President Snow of Panem had the same change of heart....'
