EURIPIDES ENERPACK - EUREKA Success Story - EUREKA

It's not just in James Bond. Royal palaces, presidential offices, military sites and electricity plants are just some of the places where state-of-the art sensors are needed in the real world to stop terrorists and other intruders entering. French specialist ERYMA has spent the last 35 years fitting different security systems into all kinds of places. Now, thanks to the project EURIPIDES-ENERPACK, it has a product to give it a leading edge in its industry - a wireless small energy unit that can power sensors using renewable energy without using cables from the electricity grid.

3quarksdaily: Tuesday poem

Giacomo Valentini's insight:

TUESDAY POEM

A Swing

On the choice swing
Fear hurls me
Into the bosom of “No”
Desire grows for “Certainly”
Persistence rebels
“No”, “A thousand times no”
then, “Aye”, “Certainly”
. . . and “Why not”
.
I run away from the decision guillotine
To embrace “Perhaps”
While . . .
While . . .

.

3quarksdaily: Philosophical Moods

Nietzschean, Heideggerian, fascist, anarchist, libertarian, brilliant genius, blabbering nutjob - these and many other labels have probably been used to describe Peter Sloterdijk, who is one of Germany's most widely known contemporary philosophers. He has achieved a rock-star status in the echelons of contemporary German thinkers, perhaps because none is more apt than Sloterdijk at fulfilling the true purpose of a public intellectual: inculcating his audience with an insatiable desire to think. His fans adore him; his critics are maddened by him. Few, if any, experience indifference when they encounter the provocateur Sloterdijk.
