Contemporary fiction Map | The information flow | Scoop.it

Bonjour,

Cordialement,

Morning,

I am now using scoop.it since several months, to keep an eye opened on some of the past news and events. So, it is now updated with tags, available on top of this page. From economy, to general culture to the world of Publishing (edition)

Regards,

"Is it real, is it fiction?the only thing i know is that IT IS happening."

The information flow | Scoop.it

7 Quick Ways to Turn Your LinkedIn Profile into a Social Media Marketing Workhorse | Copyblogger | The information flow | Scoop.it

In my opinion, the most powerful social media profile you can use is the LinkedIn profile. Most powerful that is, if you are looking to do more business and/or achieve your professional goals.

And since it tends to rank well on Google for your name, people will read your LinkedIn profile when they want to do research on you, your product, service, or company.
In other words, what you say on your profile will have an impact on the amount of business you do on LinkedIn.

Here are 7 ways to enhance the copy on your profile to ensure that you get everything you want from LinkedIn...

5 Tips For Using Your Blog as Branding Tool — BlogWorld & New ... | The information flow | Scoop.it
It's no grand secret in the blogging world that story-telling is an awesome tool for content creation. People like to feel like they're getting to know you, and the best way they can do that in many cases is for you to tell stories ...

Nice piece connecting storytelling to blogging and branding.  There are good tips here and I like how the author presents her ideas.

Susan Kistler on Content Curation Part III: Seeking Reviewers and Curators

Susan Kistler on Content Curation Part III: Seeking Reviewers and Curators | The information flow | Scoop.it

Thursday focused on how evaluators (researchers, professionals, students, others) can use content curation. (Part I http://bit.ly/n37uax)

Yesterday, I took a look at four content curation tools: BagTheWeb, Connotea, pearltrees, and Scoop.it. (Part II http://bit.ly/pCnBgb)

Today, I’m hoping that others might be interested in expanding on this project.

Hot Tip: Want to get involved? There are two ways you can help with our content curation project. The first is by taking a close look at a specific tool (I’ve got a list!) and the second is bu helping to curate content across the field.

Cognitive Biases in Times of Uncertainty--Telling Ourselves A New Story

Cognitive Biases in Times of Uncertainty--Telling Ourselves A New Story | The information flow | Scoop.it
We live in a world of increasing pressure and uncertainty, driven in large part by digital technology infrastructures.

Author John Hagel goes on to explain a vicious business mindset we face today that constricts our opportunities and keeps us either stuck, or trending downward.

There are several pieces contributing to this limiting cycle and the narrative we tell ourselves, and each other, is a HUGE part of the problem.

Hagel documents the threat-based narrative we are surrounded by and its consequences for our businesses (and political life):

Protectionism Polarization Short term focus Magnified risk while sacrificing potential rewards Urgent reactionism Uniformity versus innovation Minimal trust

This is not what we want for 2012. As writer Salman Rushdie says, "Those who do not have power over the story that dominates their lives truly are powerless, because they cannot think new thoughts."

In other words, if you want different results, change the story you are telling yourself.

Hagel brilliantly lays out the mindset problem and narrative we face today, and offers us an alternative.  The alternative starts with sharing a new narrative, and then supporting structures to make it real.

Read this article.  Shift the story. Add reinforcing structures to your business. You can do this in your own life and business -- you don't have to wait for some powers-t0-be to take action first.

In this case, it is all about you!

Brand new narratives « Big Orange Slide

Brand new narratives « Big Orange Slide | The information flow | Scoop.it
The parallel can be drawn to a compelling brand narrative. A good story is transcendant, no matter what the medium, the time, the place, or the way we engage with it. Which leads to the next question.

LOL -- I couldn't resist sharing this pearl of wisdom with you from author Joel Derksen:

Brands are for cows. Stories are for people.

We need to continue to get smart about marketing our businesses using stories so we can grow and prosper.  Enjoy reading the rest of this article about the real connection between branding and storytelling.

This will eliminate any confusion you may have about 'brand storytelling' and help keep you on the path of sharing your authentic stories to grow your business.

Accessibility Vs. Access: How the Rhetoric of “Rare” Is Changing in the Age of Information Abundance

Accessibility Vs. Access: How the Rhetoric of “Rare” Is Changing in the Age of Information Abundance | The information flow | Scoop.it

The primary purpose of an editor [is] to extend the horizon of what people are interested in and what people know. Giving people what they think they want is easy, but it’s also not very satisfying: the same stuff, over and over again. Great editors are like great matchmakers: they introduce people to whole new ways of thinking, and they fall in love.
