Seahawks vs. 49ers: A dimming rivalry?

Seahawks vs. 49ers: A dimming rivalry? | The Hawk's Chirp | Scoop.it
With the 49ers falling to 7-6 and speculation about Jim Harbaugh’s future intensifying, Sunday’s game might also mark a finale of what has been one of the fiercest rivalries in Seahawks history.
Cale Johnson's insight:

A win on Sunday could potentially end the rivalry between the Seahawks and the 49ers. At this point it is safe to say that the Seahawks own the Niners and another win would likely be the nail in the coffin.

One of the key elements to the rivalry is the coaching matchup between Seattle's Pete Carroll and San Francisco's Jim Harbaugh. The two coaches have had bad blood with each other since their college coaching days when they faced off every year with USC and Stanford.

Harbaugh may be on his way out with the Niners who have had an incredibly disappointing season. Perhaps the rivalry will continue for a few more years, but the coaching matchup is arguably the most important reason the hatred between teams sparked to begin with. A new face on the sidelines for the Niners next year could mean the end of a historic era of anger, trash talk and genuine hard knock NFL football between the two teams.
