Call for homework reforms

Call for homework reforms | The Great Homework Debate | Scoop.it
The homework debate has been causing controversy for more than a century.

Curtin University senior education lecturer Eva Dobozy, who has published a research paper on teachers' use of homework assignments, said she was concerned the pendulum in WA was swinging back towards children getting more homework at a younger age.

"So children have to sit at a desk when they're very young," she said. "It's really impeding early childhood and curtailing play-based learning."

The name of the expert is not given during the video but I believe he is a credible source due to his vast amount of experience in teaching students. He has taught for more than 32 years in the New York school system teaching many different subjects. He answers the questions of many middle school grade students pertaining to the importance of homework. He goes from the basics about homewok, that it helps you practice what you have learned, to the more in depth purposes for homework such as developing good work habits and learning responsibility.
