Coca-Cola Planning Investments in Myanmar

Coca-Cola, which hasn't done business in Myanmar in more than 60 years, said it will initially import products from neighboring countries before establishing local operations. "Coca-Cola's planned entry into Myanmar, following the suspension of sanctions, will be governed by its well- established global standards for corporate ethics including strict adherence to its global human and workplace rights policy, supplier guiding principles, code of business conduct, and anti-bribery policies," the company said.

Here’s an interesting fact: Coca-Cola’s Facebook Page was in fact created by two hardcore fans Dusty and Michael after they failed to find one that felt official enough, so they set out to create their own. Soon after, Facebook changed the rules which meant either the Page had to be closed or handed over to Coca-Cola. The soft drink brand instead of booting the creators flew them to the Atlanta headquarters and decided to work with them. Rest they say is history.

The Coca-Cola Foundation Awards $26 Million to 85 Global Organizations During First Quarter 2012 | Business Wire

The Coca-Cola Foundation — the global philanthropic arm of The Coca-Cola Company — awarded US$26 million in grants to 85 community community organizations during the first quarter. The grants support the Foundation’s global priority areas, including: $9.7 million for water stewardship; $3.6 million for fitness and nutrition; $7.4 million for education (including $5 million for first generation college scholarships); and $4.9 million for community recycling, and other local priorities, such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, youth development, and civic initiatives.

At Coca-Cola, Investors Get Less Say Than Facebook Fans

For its annual meeting this year, the Coca-Cola Company is inviting investors to visit its first-ever online “shareowner forum” on a special password-protected website. In a video message posted on the site, CEO Muhtar Kent explains the significance of the forum: “As an investor in our company, your voice is absolutely critical to our future. This website was designed to allow you to more easily share your voice and also vote your shares.” Shareholders can submit questions to management ahead of the meeting, fill in a shareowner survey that goes to management, read management’s proxy materials, vote their shares on a site that is tilted to management’s recommendations, and watch a webcast of the meeting. But talk to each other they can’t.

Coca-cola may have discovered that marketing is not about what you want to tell your audience; its also about what does my audience want to hear, what will excite/draw them to my service or product.Viewing your marketing strategy from the shoes of the audience.  Being listening brand- listening brands give a chance for the audience to interact hands-on with their products also let their audience talk to them.
