Milledgeville Newspapers

Milledgeville newspapers are good primary documents for those who want more information.  The citizens of Milledgeville hid the presses when Sherman's arrival was imminent and resumed publishing the newspapers within days of his departure.  These are accounts of Sherman's visit recorded at the time it occurred.

To read the articles, you may need to scroll, scan or zoom in on the area you need.

You can search by date or by subject or a combination. I found information by searching the words Sherman, Secession, Ordinance, Surrender and so forth and then qualifying by date such as 1864.
