Working With Consciousness - Insights From a Dream

Working With Consciousness - Insights From a Dream   | Maria Taveras Jungian Analyst, Painter and Sculptor of Dream Art. | Scoop.it
This is an Excerpted  piece :

"To appreciate the conflict revealed by your dream we perceive that the issue is the lesser coniunctio. The opposites desire to come together but have not yet transformed through the conscious realization of Shadow. The vulnerabilities and defenses of the feminine (Yin) in relation to the masculine (Yang) are revealed. It is not dealing with your sister or your cousin or any personal sense of self.

The dream figures are personifications of impersonal impulses and dynamics beneath conscious awareness and are merely revealing the stage that is manifesting. These are not to be appropriated by the ego of the surface mind. Powerlessness, until maturation occurs, always calls for anger and rage as defenses to the vulnerability. The infantile power drive is instinctual and salvational.

As maturation occurs, we come into new parts of ourselves that can respond to vulnerability differently. This is what your dream is revealing. The unconscious is reflecting development. The vulnerable masculine strikes out against the feminine and the feminine realizes it has resources to overcome the masculine infliction yet, as it is in an earlier stage, inflicts back with fire (anger and rage_. This is lesser coniunctio where the unconscious Shadow appears. This will be followed by separation, integration, and, eventually, the greater coniunctio, where the opposites transform into complement and desire to dance together in harmony.

Witness without appropriating and the ego can easily handle the mysteries of the unconscious. As you make conscious what was unconscious a miracle happens....the dynamic process is allowed to unfold naturally. What delays the process is the ego's misuse of power and self- centeredness.

The dream dynamics are taking place in the deep emotional, instinctual, and sensate layers of beingness. Best to witness the genius and wisdom of the healing and maturational dynamics of the bodyful.

Hillary Clinton and the Feminine Archetype: Part I

Hillary Clinton and the Feminine Archetype: Part I | Maria Taveras Jungian Analyst, Painter and Sculptor of Dream Art. | Scoop.it
As an American woman who grew up in the ’50s, I’ve witnessed and experienced enormous benefits from the activation of the feminine archetype. This is why the upcoming election feels so important to me. I hear that many younger women who weren’t around in those early days consider Hillary Clinton to be just another ‘good old boy’ in a woman’s body, but I disagree. I know what she’s been through. Despite her acceptance in the ‘good old boy’ political system she’s managed to develop her feminine side to an unusual degree, and with help from Jungian Analyst, Anne Baring, I hope to convince you of this.

Divorcing Ourselves from the Feminine

Divorcing Ourselves from the Feminine | Maria Taveras Jungian Analyst, Painter and Sculptor of Dream Art. | Scoop.it
Wherever the feminine appears, it will likely be devalued and discredited regardless of who expresses it. According to Jung, the goal of psychological development is wholeness. This means that if we begin life more attuned to “feminine” values, we will need to develop our “masculine” side and vice versa. Jungians have noted the tendency for women to take on more “masculine” roles after midlife, and for men to become more “feminine” around the same time. Indeed, this is a common theme in many fairy tales.

PAINTING THE PSYCHE: WONDERS OF THE DREAM WORLD

PAINTING THE PSYCHE: WONDERS OF THE DREAM WORLD | Maria Taveras Jungian Analyst, Painter and Sculptor of Dream Art. | Scoop.it
Continuing Education Courses — Fall 2018 The C.G. Jung Foundation Continuing Education courses are five-week courses designed to be informative and stimulating both to the general public and to professionals. Our program offers you the opportunity to study and explore analytical psychology, the works of C.G. Jung, and fields of related interest.

Fall I: Classes begin on October 4, 2018

This workshop on "Painting the Psyche" will be an opportunity to experience and explore archetypal images that emerge from what Jung calls the creative imagination.  We will delve into the depths of the psyche to render in paint a visual of the dream image and to amplify  what the dream world so wondrously reflects to us.  With watercolors as our medium and paintbrushes as our instruments, we will depict a dimension that is extraordinarily difficult to discern.  We will rediscover the dream world and give form, in detail, to its expressions and engage in an in-depth elaboration of what it so profoundly implies and portends. What Does It Mean to Be Unconscious?

What Does It Mean to Be Unconscious? | Maria Taveras Jungian Analyst, Painter and Sculptor of Dream Art. | Scoop.it
My ego doesn’t want to admit to anxiety or self-pity or suffering. I associate these feelings with weakness and victimization, so I ignore them. But now the pressure cooker into which I have stuffed my complex has boiled over. The floodgates separating my ego from my unconscious self have opened, my ego is swamped with emotion, and every cell in my body wants to fight or escape. This time, my instinct is to fight.
