We're #1: Florida “Most Corrupt” State in America | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it
Via CBS Miami:

"Florida may be the nation's fourth most populous state but it leads the nation in the number of federal corruption convictions, a dubious honor that could be easily remedied, a government watchdog group said Wednesday.

“We’re number one for our beaches,” Krasner said. “We’re number one for our sunshine, but it’s time we dust off our government in the sunshine laws and once again become number one in the world for government in the sunshine and open government..."

Octomom strip club shows in West Palm Beach, Florida canceled over hurt feelings

Octomom strip club shows in West Palm Beach, Florida canceled over hurt feelings | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

Via Sun Sentinel:

"The news of her cancellation comes two days after Nadya Suleman’s management team revealed plans for her to visit South Florida July 11-14 for eight performances at T’s Lounge, a full-nudity strip club in West Palm Beach (312 S. Congress Ave.).

Suleman, world famous as the so-called Octomom, mother of octuplets and six other children, was to perform as part of a publicity push for her soft-core, solo video set for release this month. T's Lounge has hosted nationally known porn stars, many of whom have new films to publicize.

The expected media frenzy ensued, including a visit to T’s by an intrepid reporter for Palm Beach County’s CBS-affiliate TV station WPEC. During an interview, a bartender said that Suleman “must be a little crazy, normal people don't have that many children." Later in the report, a manager suggested that Suleman, who was to perform topless, might go fully nude and perform lap dances..."

The 2010 conference, which cost $823,000 and featured a mind-reader, clowns, magicians and a red-carpet party, forced the ouster of several top GSA officials after the agency’s Office of Inspector General released its findings in April.

But months earlier, as word of the report was circulating among GSA officials, Ruth F. Cox, the agency’s regional administrator for several Western states, contacted a colleague in Washington asking what could be done to shield the report from public view..."
