What are the best tools/methods to assess a keyword's difficulty in ranking for SEO?

What are the best tools/methods to assess a keyword's difficulty in ranking for SEO? | The Best Questions and Answers | Scoop.it
There are so many SEO tools that you can get confused. I want to find if a keyword is hard for SEO or can be easily achieved.

The problem is, this is not something new. Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) (= Total Number of Searches divided by Total Number of Competing Pages) was used to find such keywords. But, situation is a bit different now. Total Number of Competing Pages is quantity, but Google now works with quality and authority. With some tools, this becomes a pain when you have to deal with more than 50 keywords.

What are the biggest trends that will affect e-commerce in 2011?

Answer (1 of 3): I think the trends mentioned here will continue in 2011: Who are the top or hottest Direct to Consumer (B2C) ECommerce companies?

Another trend is merchants using social networking Web sites as an ecommerce channel ("social commerce"), rathen than just a marketing channel. For example, opening a "store" on Facebook. On this topic, for example, see this interesting, recent story: http://www.practicalecommerce.com/blogs/post/788-J-C-Penney-Moves-Entire-Product-Catalog-to-Facebook

Brick and Mortar Companies: Will the Internet put a lot of retail establishments out of business?

Answer (1 of 2): For well branded, consistent goods, or commodity goods, yes, retailers in those businesses are in trouble from online retailer competition. Welcome to capitalism.

Lucky for them, there's fashion/apparel, where you have to touch it, and check it for fit before you buy. I also don't think I'm going to be buying any significantly perishable goods from Amazon.

This is not going to collapse the Monetary System, or the US Economy. Companies get competed out of business all the time. The employees...

How can Nokia get enough App-Developers to work on Windows 7 Phone versions of their products?

How can Nokia get enough App-Developers to work on Windows 7 Phone versions of their products? | The Best Questions and Answers | Scoop.it
Answer (1 of 3): There's a persistent assumption that ecosystems are based on economic logic. That's analogous to suggesting that acting talent is attracted to Hollywood because every aspiring actor calculates their expected income based on odds of success minus the cost of living there and the cost of learning to act.

This logic also implies that alternative film-making hubs may try to re-create the attraction of Hollywood by subsidizing actors, providing acting classes and offering discount agencies.

Thes...

What motivates an early employee to work in a startup?

Answer (1 of 2): The most powerful and sustainable motivator for an early employee at a startup, or for employees at any company for that matter, is the sense of meaning derived from work.  Meaning comes from working on a product whose long-term vision you believe will have an impact. It comes from working with a team whose members you respect, who constantly challenges you to learn and get better, and who you can't bear to let down. It comes from the dopamine rush you get from building and releasing someth...

Which is the best book to read when you are in a start up mode?

Answer (1 of 12): I would strongly suggest "Founders at work" by Jessica Livingston. It contains interviews with dozens of founders from the most prominent and successful startups in the history of modern technology.

Lots of insight on the problems they faced, the various hurdles on every stage of their development, and also opportunities missed. You should definitely find similarities with the startup you consider to create - or have created already.

When is the right time to hire a business development manager for a SaaS B2B startup?

Answer (1 of 9): Seems like two different scenarios here: One for your situation, and one for most startups.

If you have bootstrapped a business to over $5M in annual revenue, then cheers to you! That's impressive. In your particular situation, it seems as if you are asking about hiring someone for biz dev exclusively. I'm assuming you've already had several team members excel in this area already.

With revenue, comes the luxury of choices. It seems like a sustainable and scalable revenue/business model, a...

Is it possible to create a daily deal website like Woot using Magento?

Answer (1 of 2): Sure, it's actually pretty easy.
First you have to make sure that the product catalog is only accessible for loggedin users. To achieve that you can hook into the predispatch event and redirect all guest users to the start/login/registration page when not loggedin.

Than you could create new product attributes like sale_start and sale_end to set the time frame when certain products should be available. Than you create a new module that's only purpose is to show a list of products that are rea...

Storytelling: What are some good examples of brand storytelling through social media? | The Best Questions and Answers | Scoop.it
Answer: You can't mention successful brand storytelling and social media in the same sentence without mentioning Old Spice, particularly when they started responding to Tweets and comments in near-real-time on their YouTube channel. The videos produced that day dwarfed their widely popular national commercials in YouTube views.

Janssen-Cilag (now Jannsen-Emea) (full disclosure - Client) created a non-branded video (along with an accompanying site) addressing what it's like to be a child with ADHD. ...

What one question do you always ask applicants in a job interview and why?

Answer (1 of 35): When I interview technical folks I always ask them to give me an example of how they stay current. I'm looking for blogs they read, folks they follow on Twitter, conferences they've attended, open source projects they work on etc.The answer gives me a feel for the candidate's curiosity and desire to continue learning, technical interests apart from work experience and how they value the knowledge and experiences of the broader technical community in building their skills and network.
