Kansas Governor Apologizes for Trying to Discipline Student Over Rude Tweet

Kansas Governor Apologizes for Trying to Discipline Student Over Rude Tweet | The Amazing Amendments | Scoop.it
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback issued an apology on Monday, saying his office overreacted to a disparaging tweet from a high school senior who used a crude hashtag in her post.

Senior in high school, Emma Sullivan, tweeted about a class trip, using the hash tag “#heblowsalot. “ When staff saw this, they over reacted in such a way that violated her freedom of speech. Sam Brownback, Gov. of Kansas, issued an apology to her, when he found out. I think that the staff overreacting was wrong because it was her freedom of speak, even though it was rude towards the person they knew, she was just having some fun with her 1st amendment.

Bachmann Stands By Marriage Pact That Links Slavery to Black Family Values

Bachmann Stands By Marriage Pact That Links Slavery to Black Family Values | The Amazing Amendments | Scoop.it
Republican presidential candidate Michelle Bachmann is standing firm behind a pledge she signed Thursday that promotes marriage and social conservative values, but includes a passage that suggests black families were in better shape during slavery.

Republican candidate Michelle Bachmann goes against certain people’s 13th amendment when during a pledge, stated that “Black families were in better shape when they were slaves.” The 13th amendment bans slavery unless a punishment for a crime. The fact that she said that is going against the black people’s rights. I disagree with her because black families are pretty much the same as us. There are both fat black families and fat white families.

Privacy vs. security: Justices to debate jail strip searches - CNN.com | The Amazing Amendments | Scoop.it

The Supreme Court is set to hear arguments in a case challenging a county's routine, strip searchs of everyone arrested on any charge.

Albert Florence was arrested on his way to his family vacation for not paying an unpaid traffic fine. They had a warrant for his arrest but not to strip search him. After having his 4th amendment violated, he sued for the harshness that he went threw. I would agree with him because what they did was wrong and he didn’t deserve to go threw that.

Analysis: Jerry Flanory, a former inmate from jail claims his 8th Amendment right have been violated. Amendment 8 prohibits cruel and unusal punishments. He is planning on sueing the prison officials for being denied toothpaste. I think that he is doing the right thing by sueing them because he developed gum disease and had to have a tooth removed.

PETA lawsuit alleges SeaWorld enslaves killer whales - CNN.com

PETA lawsuit alleges SeaWorld enslaves killer whales - CNN.com | The Amazing Amendments | Scoop.it
Can killer whales sue SeaWorld for enslavement? A lawsuit by the animal rights group PETA is making that argument.

A 20 page complaint was sent to the US district court in Southern California about five whales that they say are being held in slavery or involuntary servitude in violation of the 13th amendment. The lawsuit stated that the whales are being pulled out of there natural habitat and being forced to do tricks against their will for little food rewards. I think that what these people are doing isn’t quite as serious cause they are animals and even though that they are taking them out of their homes and forcing them to take part in there shows, the amendments don’t say anything about animals.

California governor allows warrantless search of cell phones - CNN.com

California governor allows warrantless search of cell phones - CNN.com | The Amazing Amendments | Scoop.it

California governor allows police to access data on an arrested person's cell phone...

California Gov. Jerry Brown goes against the 4th amendment by vetoing a bill that allows police officers to go threw peoples phone without a search warrant. This is going against there rights because the 4th amendment says that you can’t go threw someone’s personal stuff without a warrant. I think that this is a bad idea cause it may give the policemen the idea that they can trample the peoples other rights.

Florida prison soy suit: Inmate claims Florida prison soy meals are

Florida prison soy suit: Inmate claims Florida prison soy meals are | The Amazing Amendments | Scoop.it

Eric Harris is, a Florida prisoner, wants to stop the inmates from being feed soy-laden meals. Under the 8th Amendment right, Harris complains in the lawsuit that soy food that he is being feed is giving him painful gastrointestinal cramping, and threatening the health of his thyroid. I think that the judge should not fix the way they feed the prisoners because the prison officers are required to have a healthy meal and they are in jail for a reason and shouldn’t be getting any special treatment.

Lake Correctional Institution inmate Eric Harris has a beef with prison food.
