Survey on inferring emotional states in English videos: Birbeck/Utrecht research

Survey on inferring emotional states in English videos: Birbeck/Utrecht research | TELT | Scoop.it

I am a research master student in Linguistics at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, and I need you for a research project I am conducting for my thesis.

Could I ask you to participate in this fun research on how people are able to infer the emotional state of their interlocutor? It is a follow-up of a survey in which participants were asked to guess (+ rate the intensity of) the emotion displayed by an actress in a couple of short video-recordings in English. In the present version, the video recordings have been replaced by audio-recordings, which might render the task more difficult.

We are looking for both native and nonnative speakers of English; all levels of proficiency are welcome.

Please do *NOT* participate in the present survey if you have already filled in the previous version of this questionnaire some weeks/months ago (you would recognize the first page)

Many thanks in advance for participating in this research project that I am conducting under Prof. Jean-Marc Dewaele's supervision (Birkbeck College, University of London).

Best,
Pernelle Lorette

ExplOERer Project Survey

This survey is part of the ExplOERer project, which is investigating and informing the ways in which educators learn about use and re-use of online resources. This study will support the creation of support materials and on-line courses to help educators create, share, discover and re-use open educational resources.
