Rosa María Guilleumas's insight:
Excellent document to start exploring the TPACK model. It is clear that teachers nowadays have a much more complex task than simply being experts in the contents or their field. Becoming pedagogical as well as technological experts is a must if we want to be able to engage our students and make the most of learning.

ICTs in Education for People with Disabilities - Review of Innovative Practice

ICTs in Education for People with Disabilities - Review of Innovative Practice | E-learning and ICT | Scoop.it

In 2010, the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) and the European Agency for Development in Special Needs Education agreed to collaborate on a joint project to develop a Review of Innovative Practice – a report presenting concrete examples of practice of the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with people with disabilities in different educational contexts and settings. In particular, the Review was targeted at considering examples of practice that can be considered to be ‘innovative’ within the specific educational setting and wider societal context they were situated within.

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) is a framework that identifies the knowledge teachers need to teach effectively with technology. The TPACK framework extends Shulman’s idea of Pedagogical Content Knowledge.

The TPACK framework is highly important as teachers in dvelopment, since we should not only master the content of the topics being taught, but also how it best suits the learners' needs, and how  they will be able to understand it in a simple manner, and once these two elements have been mastered, it is needed to reflect upon the impact of thecnology in the learning and teaching processes. So, in this article we will find information about the TPACK model and its impact in the processes of teching and learning.

Moreover, the author shows us hoe to build the teachers' confidence in the use of technology, and some tips to best enhance its development in the classroom

Miguel Caro Gutiérrez's curator insight, February 23, 2016 5:39 PM

According to Jessie Woolley-Wilson "if the learner does not learn the way we teach, then we must teach the way we learn". That is why, she proposed face-to-face classroom methods combined with computer-mediated activities (Blended Technology) which increases the student's learning velocity by using computers as interactive teaching devices to orchestrate mediated resources according to the unique needs of each learner. Nevertheless, this method do not agree with the common reality of Colombian public education given the fact that technological devices as laptops, tablets and smart boards are not available in all classrooms, so based on the aforementioned, what can a Colombian teacher do whether these tools are not presented in a normal classroom? How can a facilitator vary the Intelligent Adaptive Learning method into his/her class?

Mar Tín's curator insight, May 5, 2016 7:53 AM
YouTube has become an amazing way to empower classes since this is not only a website for music videos, it also includes different engaging and informative content approppriate for all levels and ages. So why not use it as a strong and effective tool for teaching and learning?

If teachers want to take the risk of using this poweful tool into the classroom, just a few steps should be followed. This steps include finding the right video, accessing content, exploring virtual reality, and sharing student work.

In my opinion, videos are an awesome tool for teaching and learning, but they should not be considered as a learning product in itself, instead, it should be used mostly as a way to emphazise just particular aspects of the learning content and engage students. If videos are used properly, they will affect learning in a positive way.
