EDP4130 - ePortfolio

EDP4130 - ePortfolio | Technology within The Middle Years | Scoop.it
Kellee Dunn's insight:

This is a link to my personal USQ Mahara E-Portfolio. I used this page to write reflections on my journey using the Scratch Program as part of my assignment. I used and experimented with a variety of gaming programs and eventually created my own functioning game. I loved this part of the assignment as it was hands on and I got to use my creativity and computer skills to develop a game. My E-Portfolio also includes links between using this type of technology and the learning outcomes within the Australian Curriculum.

Hatchet%20by%20Gary%20Paulsen.pdf

Kellee Dunn's insight:

This resource is an E-Book version of the book ‘Hatchet’ by Gary Paulsen. I personally remember reading this book when I was in Primary School and although I didn't realise back then, I realise now that this book tells the story of a young boy stranded in the wilderness who survives purely of the materials and resources he has around him. This would be a great book to read in a Middle Years class and discuss how limited materials can create solutions to big problems.

National STEM Centre - Browse Collection | Technology within The Middle Years | Scoop.it
The National STEM Centre eLibrary enables you to search thousands of teaching resources for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.
Kellee Dunn's insight:

2 of my previous posts have both derived from this website. This is by far one of the most resourceful websites I have come across, supporting and linking many of the outcomes within the Australian Curriculum in the Design and Technologies Scope and Sequence. The website provides a drop down feature to the left allowing easy navigation to find resources relating to whichever topic you choose including: Control systems, Electronics, Food technology, Graphic design, Product design, Resistant materials, Textiles and Design skills.

This looks like a valuable resource for teachers as it clearly shows teachers what the differences are between both technologies. It is important for teachers to understand the exact concept of technology and how to use it in the classroom.

Fair food design booklet | Practical Action

Fair food design booklet | Practical Action | Technology within The Middle Years | Scoop.it
A downloadable booklet with a design brief and activities on Fair foods.
Kellee Dunn's insight:

I think this is an awesome resource for teachers to extract ideas from when teaching students about fair trading of food and food technology. This resource provides extensive information and linking worksheets that can be easily accessed and utilised when teaching students about the positive and negative impacts of food technology around the world. A learning outcome from the Australian Curriculum directly linked to this resource is:

Years 3-4: Food and Fibre Production Strand 4.3

Years 5-6: Food and Fibre Production Strand 6.3

Years 7-8: Food and Fibre Production Strand 8.4

Kellee Dunn's insight:

This PDF resource was very similar to the activity my partner and I used for our Design Brief within EDP4130 Course. We thoroughly enjoyed conducting this project ourselves and I believe it would be a creative, fun and hands on activity that could be implemented within The Middle Years.
