Three ways to use Minecraft imaginatively in the classroom

Excellent timely article shared with me by our school's Teacher of the Year. I gave one of her students a detention yesterday for installing Minecraft on his school computer. I explained to the student that I fully support and encourage teachers to think about developing lesson plans that integrate Minecraft into their curriculum, but until the teachers do that, it would be considered a distraction and off task behavior by most of the people that we are accountable to for our 1:1.

Serious Doodling: 5 Effective Classroom Drawing Exercises - FRACTUS LEARNING

Serious Doodling: 5 Effective Classroom Drawing Exercises - FRACTUS LEARNING | Technology in the Classroom @ CW | Scoop.it
To the annoyance of many teachers, students cannot help but doodle in class. A range of studies now shows that this displeasure is misplaced: the doodles seem to help people concentrate (by preventing them from completely falling into a daydream) and consolidate information. Also, it seems that leaders of all types have doodled for as long as pen and paper have been available. The photograph below is of John F. Kennedy’s doodles during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
