A week-long celebration of the technology industry in New Orleans, called NOLATech Week, will launch in October and has started taking registrations. It will run from Oct. 7 to Oct. 12 in yet-to-be announced locations around the city.

Events will include speakers, social gatherings, demonstrations and job fairs. This week another first-time event showcasing technology, called the New Orleans Science and Technology Festival, is taking place on the University of New Orleans campus.

"Our goal is to highlight all the incredible ways New Orleanians are developing and using technology to better our lives and our community," NOLATech Week organizer Jason Seidman said in an announcement about the event. "We're excited to help bring attention to the important work that is taking place right here in New Orleans."

An array of entities and organizations will host or produce events during the week, including New Orleans city government, the GNO Inc. economic development group, BioDistrict New Orleans, the 4.0 Schools education start-up incubator, The Idea Village entrepreneur support network, the Propeller incubator for socially-minded entrepreneurs, the Launch Pad business incubator, New Orleans CityBusiness, Tech Cocktail and the New Orleans Video Access Center.
