Rio Ferdinand misses drug test

Rio Ferdinand misses drug test | Technology and Media | Scoop.it
David Colfr's insight:

In 2004 Rio Ferdinand missed a drug test. he was banned from football for 8 months and fined £50,000. There was a possibilty that Rio would have got away with this if the media had not spread the news forcing the F.A to punish him. I think that the F.A should have dealt with this first before the media got involved.

David Colfr's insight:

Steven Gerrard punched somebody in a pub. He probably would have got away with doing this but the media blew the incident up so he was charged. I believe that it was good the media blew it up as he should be punished like everybody else.

David Colfr's insight:

I think these chambers are a great idea for players to recover quicker and prepare their muscles for training and matches however it is unfair because not all athletes can afford such a delicacy, which means they are at a disadvantage when competing against to pros.

London Now: Photo finish

Nicola Spirig wins triathlon in a photo finish and more.
David Colfr's insight:

In the london olympics the womens triathlon had to be decided from a photo because the race was so close. I believe it's necessary for technology to be in sport because in cases like this we dont know who the winner is. For fair results we need replays to find out the actual winner

David Colfr's insight:

There are some ridiculous dives that happen in football regularly. A lot of these dives go un-noticed during the match, however with mordern technology people will look back at fouls and determine whether or not somebody has dived. They can then punish them for this. This is good as we can cut down on diving and cheating in sport.

Luis Suarez Bites Branislav Ivanovic

Liverpool's Luis Suarez has apologised for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic during a Premier League clash. The striker said sorry on his personal Twitter ...
David Colfr's insight:

If football didnt have media coverage Suarez would have got a way with biting Ivanovic. However after looking at replays the F.A took action against Suarez and banned for 10 matches. I believe it is neccessary to have replays so players dont get way with things behind the referees back.

Technology In sport

Technology In sport | Technology and Media | Scoop.it

David Colfr's insight:

Technology is becoming a major part in sport for officiating. Tennis has hawk eye which determines whether or not the tennis ball was in or out the court. Cricket has their version which determines if its leg before wicket or not. The biggest issue is getting goal line technology in to football. People have been calling for it as many decisions have been unfair as the ball may have been over the line or may have not goin in. an example of this is when Frank Lampard scored against Germany in the 2010 Football World Cup. The ball went over the line but the referee's said it was not a goal. The replays clearly showed that the ball was over the line. The goal would have made it 2-2 which may have changed the game, however Germany went on to win 4-1. Fifa have appointed more official to be on the goal line however in my opinion they have not helped in decision making. I believe that there should be goal line technology in football so that teams can get the results they deserve instead of being hard done by because of a poor decision.
