John Dalziel's insight:

Another platform that enables Practitioners to...
   - Deliver self-paced, live, and blended courses
   - Host webinars with any number of attendees
   - Provide live online tutoring
   - Flip their classroom
I'd advise experimenting with the Free Account initially.

TeamViewer

TeamViewer | technologies | Scoop.it

Share your Whiteboard Screen on Learner iPads/Androids with TeamViewer.

Basically a practitioner installs the free TeamViewer client on their computer and starts a meeting. Learners runs the free TeamViewer for Meeting app on their iPad/Android and then enters the meeting room code the Practitioner gives them. They can see the computer screen, and zoom and pan around it. But importantly, not interfere with what the practitioner is doing.

Great potential for WBL learners etc.

VSee: Remote Teamwork

VSee: Remote Teamwork | technologies | Scoop.it
VSee is free for personal use so learners can collaborate without having to buy a subscription. I'm unsure how pricing would work for a learning provider-wide deployment, but VSee does mention options for non-profit use in their FAQ section.

VSee is an alternative to Skype, which many learning providers block, for hosting a video conference and sharing desktops with others. Just as with Skype, users can hold multiple party calls and share their screen with others.

Where VSee tries to differentiate itself is...
* the quality of their calls; and
* connection speeds.

VSee offers...
* HD video for clear call quality; and for mobile users,
* 50% less bandwidth than Skype.

Sharing files through VSee is a simple drag and drop process of just dragging a file onto another person's video window during a call.

Engineering for Change

Engineering for Change | technologies | Scoop.it
Engineering for Change connects a growing community of engineers, technologists, social scientists, NGOs, local governments and community advocates, who are dedicated to improving the quality of life all over the world.
John Dalziel's insight:

On the Engineering for Change website there's a regular live, interactive webcast permitting participants to learn and interrelate with others in engineering, rather than a conventional learning site with videos, courses and lessons. < http://engineeringforchange-webinars.org/ >
By signing up they'll automatically receive an email link to the next event. They’ll also earn one Professional Development Hour (PDH) for every webinar they attend – allthey have to do is fill out and submit a PDH Form and e-mail a completed Webinar Evaluation Form (located on the individual webinar page) to eab-ceuadmin@IEEE.ORG. Their certificate request will then be completed within 5-7 business days.
A fresh topic is suggested each month.

Vyew

Vyew | technologies | Scoop.it
Vyew allows Learning Providers to meet and share content in real-time or anytime. Upload images, files, documents and videos into a room; users can access and contribute at anytime.

I found it easy to set up and use – the FREE version – unlimited use with up to 10 people. The catch? It's advert supported - I didn't find the adverts intrusive.

Conferencing features:– whiteboarding, video conferencing, screen sharing, Voice-over-IP.Collaboration features. The continuous rooms are saved and always-on.
