Anchor - Radio, reinvented

Anchor - Radio, reinvented | technologies |
Anchor is the easiest way to hear, share, and create audio worthy of your ears. Broadcast voice, mix in music from Spotify and Apple Music, and take call-ins from your listeners. All from your phone.
John Dalziel's insight:
Anchor is a simple and free platform for creating short podcasts.
Why Anchor?
Well a couple of things...
● recording is simple of matter of just holding down the record button on the user's phone then releasing it when they've done talking.
● the Anchor apps let users upload audio clips to include in their podcast.
There's more, Anchor now has a "call-in" feature that lets users include responses from listeners as part of their podcast.
With the latest update, Anchor has made a huge change to the way that users can share their recordings.
On the new version of Anchor users can have their spoken words automatically transcribed and displayed in a video suitable for sharing on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
Anchor could be a good platform for practitioners to quickly create podcasts for their courses (especially on-line courses), flipped learning and more.
Well worth finding out more and/or giving it a try...

Audio Transcription Outsourcing

Audio Transcription Outsourcing | technologies |
An increasing number of learning providers are...
* using video and audio to collect evidence; and
* using Xerte to produce accessible learning resources - including audio and video clips;

In both cases transcriptions may be required and/or, in the case of accessible resources, is essential to widen access.

* is a company specialized in audio transcription services;
* enables users to submit audio recordings...
o Interviews,
o meetings,
o podcasts,
o webinars...
* will produce a high quality transcript for as little as $0.99 per minute of audio (approx, at time of going to print, £0.60 per min); with my typing skills and other commitments I find this an attractive ROI.
* will have your transcription file ready for download in 1 business day.

Although both audio and video files are supported, using Oxelon, to strip an audio file from a video, will reduce file size and upload time.

Note: Payment is made when users upload files for transcription.

John Dalziel's insight:

oTranscribe – is a free web app to take the pain out of transcribing recorded interviews.

Users can...
- Pause,

- rewind and

- fast-forward
...without taking their hands off the keyboard.
They can navigate through their transcript with interactive timestamps.
Work is automatically saved to their browser’s internal storage every second and,as a result, their audio files and transcripts never leaves their computer.

Transcription services: Audio, Video, CD/DVDs... CastingWords

Transcription services: Audio, Video, CD/DVDs... CastingWords | technologies |
Quick, high quality, audio transcription service - just upload your file and go. Straightforward rates, fast ordering and a range of turnarounds.
Providing a transcript – a textual version of a video and/or audio – increases accessibility of the content. Practitioners and/or learners who are deaf-blind can access the content by using a refreshable (dynamic) Braille display, which converts text into Braille.

Providing transcripts also has other benefits:
* The text is then searchable by search engines.
* People can double-check a point without listening to the audio/video again.
* Some people prefer reading rather than watching a video; others prefer both.
* Content is still available when the video is not; for example, currently Flash video can not be viewed on a iPad.
