Poetry By Heart 2014
John Dalziel's insight:
Poetry by Heart is a dynamic website that encourages learners to engage in poetry and, in England, encourage learners aged between 14 and 18, to take part in competitions.
Poetry by Heart is funded by the Department for Education, maintained and developed by The Poetry Archive - https://www.poetryarchive.org/ - and The Full English - http://www.thefullenglish.org.uk/ - as a resource for a national poetry recitation competition and for teaching and learning about poetry.
Poetry by Heart has compiled...
  - Shakespeare’s Sonnets where Education Practitioners, learners and curious visitors alike can explore all 154 of his sonnets.
  - a First World War Poetry showcase to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War
  - Poetry for children
  - a Learning Zone
  - a Random Poem "Lucky Dip"
...and more.
All three websites must be worth a closer look.

Poetry Archive

The Poetry Archive is a treasure-trove of English-language poets reading their own work.

Some...
- are historic recordings,
- have been made specially for the Archive
...which means its range is the widest possible

The link takes you to a webpage where you'll find information about who to look for in the Archive, and how to find them, as well as information about how to discover - by theme or region or guided tour - poets whose work learners and practitioners alike, may not yet know.

I'm very excited to learn about this archive, in which we can listen to the voices and words of some of humanity's keenest and most sensitive minds as they read and ponder their own works. Visit www.poetryarchive.org
