"It was a great addition and provides some valuable information about how social is affecting your business. For example, you can view social referrers, content that received traffic from social networks, view conversations across certain social networks, view conversion data (including last click and assisted attribution), how social visitors flow through your site, and more."

Social networking is all about information sharing

Social networking is all about information sharing | TechNews | Scoop.it
Social networks are fond of telling you how many friends or contacts you have. That just appears to encourage “contact farming” where people try and get to the top of a list for the number of connections they have amassed.

Followed by number of backlinks (0.36).

SEO And Social Media For Marketing

SEO And Social Media For Marketing | TechNews | Scoop.it

"Social media is extremely important for marketing, not just on the social media sites, and not just for SEO for your sites, but also for getting the social media pages ranked on Google.

A You Tube video or Facebook page can quite easily rank on Google for a fairly high competition search if you know what you're doing, and of course, it's important that it ranks in the searches on those sites as well".

The increasing importance of Social Media within SEO

The increasing importance of Social Media within SEO | TechNews | Scoop.it

This guest post from James Gurd discusses why social media is an important part of SEO and how Google Analytics Social reports can help.

From The Article: "Social media signals started to play a part in search engine algorithms back in December 2010 but it wasn’t until 2011 that the likes of Google really started to pay attention and dedicate more effort to indexing social content and using social signals to boost content in search results. For a neat history of Google algorithm changes, turn to SEOMoz.

Furthermore, as Google ploughs on with its paid inclusion Armageddon, less and less organic content is appearing above the fold.

This means web marketers need to think of SEO in broader terms – not focussing on keywords and markup, but rather using content to excite customers and encourage them to click and share. This will tick the current SEO box but also help ensure there is a level of protection when and if pure SEO experiences diminishing returns.

So, Which social signals currently influence search results?

With over 200 search signals and constant changes, it’s hard to be precise. However, there are some key signals that are worth noting".
