Paperless – How I Teach From The Cloud

Paperless – How I Teach From The Cloud | teaching with technology | Scoop.it

"Of course, I use other services too such as Gmail, Diigo, WordPress, etc. but the main ways I reduce paper and teach from the cloud are through Google Calendar, Evernote, Google Docs and Firefox Sync. I use them everyday because they help me to avoid wasting paper, keeping all of my work organized and make my teaching easily accessible from anywhere I am, at any time"

Free Technology for Teachers: Almost Everything You Need to Know About Wikispaces

Free Technology for Teachers: Almost Everything You Need to Know About Wikispaces | teaching with technology | Scoop.it

"If there is such a thing as an "old reliable" resource in the world of ed tech, Wikispaces qualifies. I've been using Wikispaces for various purposes and recommending it to others since I started this blog. Over the years I've created screencast videos about how to use it, created slideshows about how to use it, and linked to other educators' tutorials on it. But until very recently, Wikispaces didn't have its own YouTube Channel dedicated to showing you how to use the features they offer..."

Why Is Data Visualization So Hot?

Why Is Data Visualization So Hot? | teaching with technology | Scoop.it

Fundamentally, our visual system is extremely well built for visual analysis. There’s a huge amount of data coming into your brain through your eyes; the optic nerve is a very big pipe, and it sends data to your brain very quickly. Once that data arrives at the brain, it’s rapidly processed by sophisticated software that’s extremely good at tasks such as edge detection, shape recognition, and pattern matching.

How Students Use Technology [INFOGRAPHIC]

How Students Use Technology [INFOGRAPHIC] | teaching with technology | Scoop.it
It’s clear that today’s students rely heavily on electronic devices even when they’re not incorporated in the classroom. In one survey of college students, 38% said they couldn’t even go 10 minutes without switching on some sort of electronic device.

But how students are using their devices, how technology is affecting their educational experience, and what effect it has on their well-being are questions that are harder to answer. In the infographic below, online higher education database Onlineeducation.net has summed up some of the existing research on these points.
