Digital teaching portfolios for the enhancement of teaching and learning

Digital teaching portfolios for the enhancement of teaching and learning | Teaching tools | Scoop.it
At an individual level, digital teaching portfolio offers a context for articulating one’s teaching philosophy, reflecting upon one’s teaching, documenting evidence of teaching accomplishments for present and future employers, and through which, one’s pride and esteem for teaching, as well as teaching practices could be enhanced. At a community level, teaching portfolio encourages inquiry-based dialogues on teaching, facilitates the process of mentoring junior teaching staff and offers resources which helps develop effective criteria for teaching in a tertiary institution.

8 Technologies That Will Shape Future Classrooms

8 Technologies That Will Shape Future Classrooms | Teaching tools | Scoop.it
What does the future of learning hold? What will classrooms of the future be like? Emerging technologies such as cloud computing, augmented reality (AR) and 3D printing are paving the way for the future of education in ways we may have yet to see. At the very least though, we can extrapolate from what these promising technologies and predict how schools will adopt them in time to come.

This is what I think iPads are 'for' in education. Let me know what you think."

"Today while I was browsing through my Twitter feeds I came across this fabulous Bloom's Taxonomy wheel of apps shared by Anthony. If you still recall, some previous versions of this wheel have already been featured here in Bloom's Taxonomy for Teachers section .

Publishing student video that is created with iPads can be a challenging process, especially with younger students. Even schools that are Google Apps typically decide to turn off YouTube uploads to the student accounts. However, with the use of a handful of free applications, students can create video content on iPad, share their creation with a teacher, and then have the teacher upload to their YouTube channel or a class YouTube channel.

Some of the animation links catalogued here will give educators very basic tools and histories of animation while others have the animation already created and set in motion, it’s just a matter of sharing it with students.

Educators need to decide which tool is best for them. If you want to create your own animation from scratch, then you want to go to sites such as Animwork. If you want to select from animation that’s already set up for you then perhaps Explainia makes more sense.

Simply open the app, point it at a QR Code and your device will do the rest.  Try it with the code above.  It should take you back to this blog."
