Gavin Umstead's curator insight, March 28, 2016 12:10 AM
I, being a fan of poetry the title hooked me. Also I was interested because becomes a teacher is a possibility in my future. I and so many people believe a deeper thinking process is important in classrooms and I think this a powerful but more importantly a SIMPLE way to do so. The author himself was a ninth grade teacher and he was able to express the reactions of the students and that made for a more convincing article because overall this was a persuasive article trying to have teacher start a class with a poem. He expresses all the ways poetry is has importance and what makes is valuable and my favorite one was having it being able to connect with students emotionally as well. I really love poetry and finding true meanings and I highly support this idea.
