Germaine Greer: The work of art is supposed to defy time but fabric is bound to fade and rot, even when it is kept in between layers of tissue paper and shut away from sight.
Susan Lang's insight:

This is the article by Germaine Greer that I mentioned. I note that Greer says a 'work of art is supposed to defy time' however there are some artists who would disagree,

Artists for art's sake

Artists for art's sake | Tangled Threads | Scoop.it

This image is related to my SP.  What I was searching for and found was something related to the words and how this could inspire a responce.  In this case "The Seeds Of Things' relates to a poem which I thought was a nice twist on 'seeds'

Every textile has a story, whether it’s of the plant and soil it grew out of, the chemistry lab where it was engineered through molecular magic, or some combination of both!

edrica huws patchworks

art exhibition 2007
Susan Lang's insight:

Very interesting result using patches/leftovers.  The results are worth veiwing.  Noted two very diiferent articles relating to Edrica, the one from the Guardian less than flattering, the article in the Embroidery more positive, and bearing in mind the artists we are currently looking at in Critical Studies can appreciate expanding the boundries and breaking the rules of traditional quilting.

Ernst Haeckel « Katrin Leblond Blog | Tangled Threads | Scoop.it

This blog relates to my SP.  I was looking for imagery and inspiratin re Herst Haeckel, not the artist I was intentionally researching, however this is a good exmple of how a response can be generated from research.  Nature was the topic, but I would also add 'under the microscope' to this.  Alexander McQueens hats capture the delacacy of Haeckels drawings.

Fabricatedends: Inspiring Textiles from Muuse

Fabricatedends: Inspiring Textiles from Muuse | Tangled Threads | Scoop.it

The textiles are completely handmade from recycled yarns and the three-dimensional details are woven one by one directly in the shape of the garment. This technique. makes the woven cubes completely seamless.'

These images are quite organic in shape and remind me of seed pods, petals with the added bonus of the materials used are all recycled
