caralytic clothing- purifying air goes trendy

"Catalytic Clothing is a ‘trendy’ solution to air quality and a daring environmental-fashion initiative started by former fashion designerHelen Storey and University of Sheffield Professor Anthony Ryan. This experiment between fashion and science is an endeavor to purify the air we breathe through jeans treated with nanosized particles of titanium dioxide – the light-triggered catalyst found in sunscreen. Helen Storey, fashion genius of the Helen Storey Foundation, and Prof. Tony Ryan, polymer chemist, are partnering with Ecover to produce a simple nanoparticle formulated ‘green’ laundry product with potential to turn the public into an air-purifying altruistic community."

What is Visual Language & How Comics Can Help Create It [graphic]

What is Visual Language & How Comics Can Help Create It [graphic] | Sustainable Development | Scoop.it
“ Visual language Lab: Researching the structure and cognition of the visual language of comics”MartyVisual Language Important For Internet MarketingOne undeniable trend is Lean Visual Marketing. We want videos and pictures and we want to understand complex ideas FAST. Scooplit is riding the crest of the lean visual marketing wave and exploding. We know that there are some core ideas in this new "visual marketing revolution" including:* Surprise helps but is had to create.* Smashing expected visuals into unexpected can create surprise.* Humor works. * Arresting visuals only work once UNLESS aligned to their content.* Without arresting visuals content marketing is doomed. * The "visual language" of your marketing must be consistent with all other marketing or dissonance results. I like the idea of studying comics to help achieve a sense of visual tone and for ways to connect images seamlessly with copy, tone ane theme.

5 reasons you should care about California’s new energy storage mandate | GigaOM Clean Tech News | Sustainable Development | Scoop.it
California energy regulator on Thursday approved what is the country’s first and very ambitious mandate for using storage technology to complement the growing amount of renewable energy flowing into the grid. The California Public Utilities Commission voted five to zero to approve the mandate, and it’s a big deal because it will rev up a new market for various technologies for banking electricity. There are a wide variety of technologies just in the battery sector alone, and some are venture-backed startups that have been waiting for California to set the mandate. Here is what you should know about the new program and why you should care:Click headline to read more--

Stunning Modern Building Breathes New Life Into Bergen's Historic Fish Market

Stunning Modern Building Breathes New Life Into Bergen's Historic Fish Market | Sustainable Development | Scoop.it
A local fish market in Bergen has been transformed by Edel Biesel Arkitekter into a beautiful modern space that harks back to the city's heritage.”Completed in 2012, the renovation carefully balances the site's historic heritage with its contemporary use. The project is titled “History Continued," and it honors these principles by telling the story of the site while creating a symbol of modern architecture in the center of the city.An angular, daylight-filled “floating” volume and glass wall on the ground floor provides a view out through the market hall. The building’s transparent facade provides shelter from wind and rain, but on beautiful sunny days the space can be opened up to connect market activities outside to those occurring inside.
