Renewable energy reduces energy prices

Daniel Park's insight:

In 2007, the time frame for increasing the share of Victoria’s electricity consumption from renewable sources to 10 per cent was extended from 2010 to 2016. A range of factors, such as the interests of existing generators, the renewable energy industry and Victorian electricity consumers, were considered in extending the target. However, the
extension occurred primarily to alleviate the concerns of brown coal generators that the

10 per cent target would deliver too much renewable energy generation too quickly, which would reduce wholesale electricity prices and adversely affect existing generators.

Climate Change Policy Demands Clean Focus

Climate Change Policy Demands Clean Focus | Sustainability Action | Scoop.it

Climate change is happening, and that human activities are the greatest contributing factor.

“If you take all human energies in all forms, and spread them all over the world, it amounts to about a fortieth of a watt per square meter; about 10,000 times less than the incoming solar energy," he said. "The extra heat trapped by the greenhouse gases that are solely of human origin is a number 100 times bigger than the dissipation of all of the energy we use. This calculation shows the enormous leverage that the greenhouse effect provides over the planetary energy budget. We are changing the earth’s atmospheric chemical composition.”
