Mitchell Killmer's curator insight, November 7, 2013 11:16 PM

This article is about the flaws of 3D printers. I have not researched this topic too much but I agree with this article. It seems like everyone wants to have or try a 3D printer because they are new and exciting, but they are new, so they will have flaws. In the article it says you cannot make cars or planes out of this machine. That is true, but you can make a badge, and that is about it. I am not denying the fact that is new and exciting, I am just saying I would not spend my 2,000 dollars on this printer.

Florence G. Ruud's comment, November 14, 2013 2:36 PM
It's good to read also such kind of realistic comments when it comes to 3d printing. Yes, enthusiasm is a good thing, but I agree about several points. The devices are, at the moment, not only easy to use, slow, and look like the very first mobile phones ( the ones that were difficult to carry with you ;)
the size of the objects/pieces created are also quite an issue. But there is always room for improvement, however the system, the technology, the software, and in fact everything we use.
There are also many good points, let's face it, 3d printing is a technology we're going to use for a long time, intensively or not is our choice.
