Noah Collins's curator insight, November 15, 2017 10:43 PM

Few weeks ago, met my college friends after two years. An exciting day, good food and old memories made the day more memorable. As we all have changed in terms of physical appearance since college days, all my friends found one common change they saw in me and that was my tanned skin. Back than in college I was the one with beautiful skin and charming looks, I never had to care about my appearance. In these two years, my work, my hectic schedule and travel due to work almost long part of the day, had changed my skin to such a great extent that I felt it is not only two but ten more years of stress added to my life. It was high time that I should start doing something about it and I realized that, if I can’t take care of my skin where am I going to live. In polite society, a well-maintained skin care routine is one of the life’s great successes.

My event management job makes sure that I have to be out on field work throughout the day. Naturally exposing my skin to sun rays is unavoidable. So, I had to assure that I had to use a reliable sunscreen lotion to protect my skin from harmful UV rays. Too much exposure to ultraviolet or UV rays can cause sunburn. UV rays penetrate the outer skin layers and pass into the deeper layers, where they can damage or kill skin cells. Frequent and prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays over many years is the chief cause of skin cancer. Prolong exposure to sun causes sunburn, which is redness of the skin. High UV exposure also results in blistering, pain and peeling of skin after few days. Tanning is also one of the adverse effects of sunburn. It usually becomes noticeable one to two days after exposure to the sun and gradually increases for several days persisting for weeks or months. Aging also is one more chronic effect resulting from prolong exposure to sun. After been aware of how capable is UV rays of causing harm to our skin, a routine skin care becomes significant.

Using a proper sunscreen lotion is as important as maintaining skin hygiene. We have many branded sunscreen lotions available in the market for protection as per skin types. Now how do one decide which would be the one? There are different types of sunscreen available in the form of lotion, cream, liquid and spray. But I had to choose a sunscreen best suited for my skin. I was looking out for lotion which could be smooth on the skin and most importantly non-sticky. Most of the sunscreens available in the market are sticky which after applying makes me feel sweaty and look oilier, which after few hours made me look more horrible. I tried sprays too, but that leads to lots of wastage and does not last long as we end up wasting more than applying it. I realized a lotion that is smooth on the skin, non-sticky, acne prone, water and sweat resistant, sufficient SPF range and is anti-inflammatory is a must in any sunscreen I use.

Klairs Mid –Day Blue Sun Lotion is by far the best sunscreen I have used. It is a liquid based refreshing cream. Its application is light, smooth and non-sticky that blends well with the skin. It calms down the irritable skin if any and also tones down the redness that appears due to prolong exposure to sun. After applying it gives an even tone that also makes our skin looks bright and refreshing. Guaiazulene, which is a key ingredient, gives it the characteristic blue color. This can also be applied as a base before I make up. Mid-day blue sun lotion is favourable for any skin types, it is natural product that is applicable both for men and women.

Now I don’t leave my house without applying this lotion. It’s just been two weeks that I have started using it and could already see a vast difference in my face. It also moisturizes my skin and can be used at all times. Be it work, beach, event, sports, swimming and partying, I always apply this lotion. Healthy skin is reflection of overall wellness.

Blue Lizard Staff's insight:

Every now and then it's a good idea to dust off your inner science geek.  Especially if someone want to tell me that a planet as big as Jupiter needs a quality SPF 30 physical blocker too.  Maybe we just coat the planet in Blue Lizard Sensitive Sunscreen (bulk orders do receive deep discounts!).  Enjoy!

How to Get More Vitamin D - POPSUGAR

How to Get More Vitamin D - POPSUGAR | sunscreen | Scoop.it
The short, dark days of Winter are here, so it's even more important to make sure you are getting enough vitamin D. Dietitian Julie Upton, MS, RD, of Appetite For Health explains why.
Blue Lizard Staff's insight:

You can find differing perspectives everywhere you look; vitamin D intake is no different.  Some sources advocate for supplementing with daily vitamin D pills while other sources encourage intake from food.  And with the recent, staggering, amount of information and research devoted to the potential positive effects of increased vitamin D intake, I thought it may help to share this blog with you.  Why do I suddenly crave a good piece of Salmon?!?!
