            Ello is a new social network that is beginning to gain a surplus of members.  Last month the social network site was practically unheard of with only 90 members and now in the month of September they are gaining 30,000 members an hour.  Ello doesn’t like the fact that social networks, which are owned by advertisers, use our data to show us more advertisements.  Ello wanted to create a place where people can connect and not be manipulated by advertisements that pop up on the side of your screen when looking on social network sites.  This new social network site wants to take it back to when companies wanted to create relationships with customers and not just try and use them for their data.  Companies can use Ello to work with customers and figure out what they really want to buy.  Ello is still a long way from gaining the recognition like Twitter and Facebook have, but they are certainly on the right track.

Daniel Goleman, in his article “Leadership That Gets Results”, has identified six different leadership styles, and he believes that good leaders will adopt one of these six styles to meet the needs of different situations.

 

None of the six leadership styles by Daniel Goleman are right or wrong – each may be appropriate depending on the specific context. Whilst one of the more empathetic styles is most likely to be needed to build long-term commitment, there will be occasions when a commanding style may need to be called upon, for example, when a rapid and decisive response is required.
