What Does a College Education Do For You? According to Steve Jobs, It Turns You Into a 'Bozo'

What Does a College Education Do For You? According to Steve Jobs, It Turns You Into a 'Bozo' | Strategy and Leadership | Scoop.it
If you don't look past education and skills, you will end up building a team of "bozos".
Chad Manske's insight:

This piece tends to skew slightly negatively toward not getting a college education, yet of course the answer really depends upon what kind of job or position you are seeking and being hired. The article states, "You want your hires to be able to think out of the box, and come up with innovative ways of solving existing problems," yet to solve problems may involve the repetitive process college offers in terms of papers, dialogue and hearing other perspective.  In other words, college courses are akin to repeated problem solving exercises that over time build muscle memory and confidence that hone one's problem skill set, that can also enable the innovation described in the quote.  Read this piece and decide for yourself!

It's Possible to Burn Out Before You Start--4 Tips to Prevent It

It's Possible to Burn Out Before You Start--4 Tips to Prevent It | Strategy and Leadership | Scoop.it
WE are capable of stressing ourselves out to a breaking point with thoughts alone.
Chad Manske's insight:

Burnout has many origins in the workplace. I believe this author hits on a couple of outstanding points in this regars I often remark upon. First, know the diffeeence between being busy and productive—combat it by making lists and accomplishing these items, or, if it is a complex task, make lists against milestones and complete those.  Lastly, compare yourself only against yourself. We often measure ourselves against the output of others but the truth is our capacity has a limit. We should recognize that fact and use it as our performance yardstick.
