We ignore what doesn’t fit with our biases – even if it costs us

We ignore what doesn’t fit with our biases – even if it costs us | Strategy and Business Planning | Scoop.it
We tend to pay more attention to information that confirms our own beliefs and biases, and we are prepared to lose money to stick to our guns
Paul P Roberts's insight:
For anyone who is or may be still in sales, will know of those frustrating situations where your spend hours if not months negotiating what seems to be a financially logical deal that is in everyones interests. Then bang "We are staying with our existing supplier even though it will cost us more". Interesting piece of research that looks at the way we make those decisions, might help when trying to understand when this is likely to happen and what we need to do to change it.

Get insight into how content influences the purchasing process – from the buyer’s perspective – in research from SmartBrief and Content Marketing Institute
Paul P Roberts's insight:
This appeared in my inbox today, think the chart relating to sources of data is really telling in that if you aren't recommended nor found in the original research it takes both a great marketing and sales effort to get you there. Worth thinking about clarifying this early in your sales efforts to find out how much work you will have to put in to win.

If Daniel Nadler is right, a generation of college graduates with well-paid positions as junior researchers and analysts in the banking industry should be worried about their jobs. Very worried. Mr Nadler’s start-up, staffed with ex-Google engineers
Paul P Roberts's insight:

47% of of jobs at risk  by 2025. Be interesting to see what the human race could achieve with 47% more people thinking rather than doing.

For industries like market research this move to thinking rather than doing has already started and we should expect to see it accelerate.

Organizations are much more complex than how they’re designed. Executives should take that complexity into account when measuring performance. (The Source of Organizational Dysfunction, Revealed!
Paul P Roberts's insight:

Worked in quite a number of organisation where the organisational chart does not match the routes by work gets done.  Great summary down the article highlighting how sucessful companies are organised  around a simple framework.

Paul P Roberts's insight:
What i do find interesting about blockchain, this being one example, is how it disrupts the traditional sales channel models. In that sense it feels like as big a step as when the likes of Amazon, Ebay, Alibaba first launched.
