Why Content Curation is the Ultimate Compliment to the Creator

Why Content Curation is the Ultimate Compliment to the Creator | Storytelling | Scoop.it
Before today, imitation was the greatest form of flattery. If your idea was good enough to be copied, then you were golden. But now, with the state of the web in our lives, this balance is shifting.
Steve Junion's insight:

I love the concept of curation as a way to extend knowledge and perspective vs. simply copying someone's great ideas or posting a link on any number of Social Media outlets.  Curation alone isn't very exciting, to be honest, but curation with the ability to add your own point of view and perspective is a powerful opportunity to extend knowledge and learning about a variety of topics.  It's a way to start an important dialogue...

I also see great opportunities for my kids, as they span elementary-middle-and high school, to be able to use curation in their day-to-day coursework.  Imagine if they were studying international politics, how curating articles from around the globe would expand their knowledge and sharing with their classmates would provide even deeper levels of knowledge.

Become a curator, share your point of view, and build even deeper communities because we all benefit.  I learn more from each of you, as a collective than I can on my own...thank you for your contribution to my knowledge.

Tools like Scoop.it make that possible and more importantly, help to build a community.

Happy curation!

Steve Junion's insight:

I like it when he says "we want our stories to be bigger than ourselves at about 9:21.  What does that say about the human condition, and how we are wired?  Also, from a more practical perspective, what does it mean when we are hiring someone and/or having general convesations with others?
