Six principles for great content marketing - Econsultancy | State of Content | Scoop.it
Being a decent content marketer is about matching your strengths with what actually gets results.

Summarized...

1. Your content shouldn’t be about you

If your content features a single perspective, or doesn’t shine light on anyone but your own company, you’re missing the point.

Your content should force you to make new connections, and to have conversations with the great minds in your industry.

2. Make your data do the hard work

[E]xperiments and data-backed stories really stand out.  There is so much opportunity to collect public data to craft great stories – and they work. Let your data do the hard work for you.

3. Your content should shine light on the people you want to influence

4. Your content should be more ambitious than everyone else’s

5. Your content must have never been done before

6. Small touches go a very long way

It amazes me how most bloggers put so much effort and passion into writing great content, but then don’t format their masterpiece to do their content justice. First impressions count, and small touches definitely make a World of difference.

Amplify Business Blogging with Google-Friendly Content | Social Media Today | State of Content | Scoop.it

Even though social media is often in the spotlight, business blogging is still vital to your marketing success. Original, high-impact content still needs to be the lure for your audience....

There are a number of ways to ramp up the reach and exposure of your content, including syndicating it on websites like Social Media Today and Business 2 Community and sharing it on the big four social networks—Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. Posting your content to popular social bookmarking sites, such as Digg, StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us, can be another source of increased exposure.

While taking these steps to promote your content will no doubt be beneficial, it is critical to address the issue at the core—ensuring that you produce the kind of content that compels a great deal of social content curation. If you can create highly shareable content, others will promote it for you. Publish relevant, information-rich and share-worthy content, and your search rankings will inevitably improve, as Google is increasingly informing their algorithms with social signals, such as +1s.
