Professional Learning Standards

Professional Learning Standards | SSW Professional Development and Learning | Scoop.it
This is the third version of standards that outline the characteristics of effective professional learning. This edition, drawn from research and based on evidence-based practice, describes a set of expectations for effective professional learning to ensure equity and excellence in educator learning. The standards serve as indicators that guide the learning, facilitation, implementation, and evaluation of professional learning. As with earlier versions of the standards, including the last revision in 2001, Learning Forward invited representatives from leading education associations and organizations to contribute to the development of the standards. Together, these representatives reviewed research and best practice literature to contribute to the standards revision with consideration of their own constituencies, including teachers, principals, superintendents, and local and state school board members.
Steve Whitmore's insight:
Sit and gets rarely assist in creating long-term professional practice change.  Changing adult behavior requires a comprehensive approach which includes relfection and support.

The Future of the School Social Work Profession 13 CEUs - 2018 #SSWAA Book Club

The Future of the School Social Work Profession 13 CEUs - 2018 #SSWAA Book Club | SSW Professional Development and Learning | Scoop.it
The Future of the Professions explains how “increasingly capable systems -- from telepresence to artificial intelligence -- will bring fundamental change in the way that the 'practical expertise' of specialists is made available in society” (Susskind & Susskind, 2015, book cover). Raising important practical and moral questions, what does this mean for the school social work profession? “In an era when machines can out-perform human beings at most tasks, what are the prospects for employment, who should own and control online expertise, and what tasks should be reserved exclusively for people?”
Steve Whitmore's insight:
Book studies are an excellent way to learn.  Remember, the new rules for Michigan allow up to 50% of yoiur CEHs to be earned on-line.
