EA Sports Will Not Release College Football Game In 2014

EA Sports Will Not Release College Football Game In 2014 | Sports Media | Scoop.it
EA Sports' fan-favorite NCAA football title will not be released in 2014, and its longterm future is in jeopardy.
Meredith Carrier's insight:

From this article I learned that NCAA will not release a football game for the first time since 1997. I also learned that the title’s long-term future is still under the microscope. “The ongoing legal issues combined with increased questions surrounding schools and conferences have left us in a difficult position.”  I found it interesting that many collegiate athletes have argued that companies like the NCAA Football have generated significant profits without properly compensating the players whose names and likenesses are used. I also found it interesting that some schools receive awards up to $75,000 just for appearing in the game. I selected this article because it shows how the social media can have such an effect on schools and sports. The information from this article will help in the sport management industry because it shows how fast social media spreads.

CBS Radio-Nets deal far more than rights - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global | Sports Media | Scoop.it
In January, just a couple of months before the Brooklyn Nets’ radio rights deal with WFAN was expiring after nine years, CBS Radio President and CEO Dan Mason visited Brett Yormark, CEO of the Nets and Barclays Center, to start renewal talks.
Meredith Carrier's insight:

From this article, I learned that the Brooklyn Nets were looking to leverage their ownerships of the Barclay’s Center. The result is a four- year deal set to be announced this week that will encompass more than the Nets’ radio rights. This includes rights to other events that occur at the Barclays Center. I found it interesting that this was the first deal of its kind that CBS Radio has ever done. The deal also includes college basketball games from the Barclay Center which are presented by Ticketmaster. I selected this article because it would benefit sport managers in preparing events for their companies and franchises. This information in the article would help you in the sport management industry because it has information about planning concerts, events, and companies would also act as co-promoters on these events by sharing the revenue.

The NFL and Twitter have struck a large-scale deal for the league to be part of Amplify, Twitter's emerging advertising platform.
Meredith Carrier's insight:

From this article I learned that the NFL and Twitter have struck a very profitable deal for the league to be part of Amplify, which is Twitter’s emerging advertising platform. The NFL and Twitter plan to share in the ad revenue that will be generated through the pact. The Twitter President of Global Revenue said “Having access to this type of highly coveted content on Twitter will not only offer our users a unique programming schedule which will deepen their engagement with our platform, but will also provide sponsors with a value proposition that few other partners can’t bring to the table.” I selected this article because Facebook and Twitter are becoming huge assets to the sports industry, having instant statistics about a team or even a certain player, to help people become connected and updated instantaneously. The information form this article will help you in the sport management industry because the world is becoming more and more technology advanced day by day and this will help a lot with advertising and marketing if you know how to do it well.
