Soccer Injuries: Avoid/Treat With Chiropractic Care | El Paso Back Clinic ®

Soccer Injuries: Avoid/Treat With Chiropractic Care | El Paso Back Clinic ® | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

Soccer is one of the most popular team sports in the United States, and offers an excellent form of exercise to children and adults alike. Unfortunately, the nature of the sport, the repeated movement and the chance of collision, add up to quite a few opportunities for injury.

Lower and upper extremity injuries, overuse injuries, and head, neck, and face injuries are commonplace. According to Stanford Children's Health, "88,000 children 8-14 were treated in an emergency room for soccer-related injuries."

Soccer players who take certain precautionary measures decrease their chances of injury. Let’s look at three ways you can avoid injury as a soccer player:

#1: Soccer: Use Proper Equipment

Donning proper fitting cleats, uniforms, and shin guards decrease the risk of being hurt in the first place. Make adjustments often, especially if the player is growing rapidly or fluctuates in weight.

#2: Get Checked Out By A Chiropractor Pre-Season

Soccer players who allow their fitness less to lapse increase the chance of injury. Visit a Doctor of Chiropractic to ensure there are no underlying issues with participating in strenuous activity. A chiropractor is also able to make sure the spine is aligned and muscles and joints are strong and functioning properly.

#3: Pay Attention To The Surroundings

A field that is not kept up well offers a greater chance of turning an ankle or falling. It's vital to check out the playing area beforehand and note any uneven areas that could cause a player to trip.

In addition, consider the weather. Muddy, slick fields create extra issues, and particularly hot temperatures make players run the risk of dehydration or heat stroke. Prepare for weather issues in advance of the game.

If, even though you take all of these precautions, you still end up injured, there are several options for treatment. The injury is hopefully mild and heals on its own after a few days of rest. More serious injuries require a doctor visit, and one of these three treatments.

First, ice and elevate it: Keep weight off the injured area as much as possible, and elevate it with pillows. Use an ice bag wrapped in a towel to keep down swelling and inflammation. If the injury is painful, over the counter medication helps reduce discomfort.

Then, take a break: The last decision you want to make is to begin playing too soon and re-injure yourself. With more serious injuries, sitting out of a few games, or even an entire season, is a choice that promotes healing and health. Talk to your chiropractor about the timeframe the injury needs to be able to recover correctly, and follow his or her advice.

Finally, keep your chiropractic adjustments: Chiropractors are trained in treating the neuromusculoskeletal system as a whole. Many of the injuries suffered from soccer show an improvement after a few chiropractic visits.

Spinal and joint alignment, muscle healing, and tendon relaxation are all techniques chiropractors employ to promote and hasten healing. Additionally, chiropractors give insight on valuable ways to use nutrition and exercise to keep the body functioning at optimum capacity, to avoid re-injury.

Enjoying physical activity is essential to maintain a routine that provides a healthy, active lifestyle, and joining a soccer team is a great choice for children as well as adults. Knowing the advance precautions to put in place to avoid injury will help keep you strong and safe.

If, however, you or your child end up hurt, these forms of treatment will lessen healing time and get you back in the game at full speed. So give us a call to schedule your next appointment before you get back out on the pitch.

Why More Professional Athletic Teams Are Using Chiropractors | El Paso, TX | Call: 915-850-0900

Why More Professional Athletic Teams Are Using Chiropractors | El Paso, TX | Call: 915-850-0900 | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

There has been an increasing number of professional athletes and athletic teams in recent years that have chosen to use chiropractors to treat their injuries, help manage their pain, and help keep them at the top of their game in terms of performance and stamina. Top athletes like Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, Vernon Davis, and Aaron Rodgers recognize that value in good chiropractic care and have incorporated it into their overall health and wellness programs.

One of the biggest draws is chiropractic’s whole-body approach to health care. A chiropractor will not just treat the symptoms of a problem (such as pain), he or she will work to uncover the cause of the problem and recommend lifestyle changes that will help the athlete not only eliminate their pain, but resolve the issue causing the pain, and take steps to help prevent the problem from recurring.

The NFL Chooses Chiropractic

The National Football League (NFL) has long kept chiropractic care as a standard treatment for its players. In fact, the Professional Football Chiropractic Association estimates that the average team chiropractor for the NFL will perform anywhere from 30 to 50 chiropractic adjustments or treatments a week during the football season.

When you consider that the NFL teams employ around 35 chiropractors, that adds up to about 27,000 adjustments in that short 16-week span. But it’s worth it to keep the players in tip-top shape and many continue chiropractic care even after they retire.

The PGA Chooses Chiropractic

Many top golfers in the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA), such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Phil Mickelson see chiropractic care not only as a necessary element in their wellness routines but also as a playing a vital role in their success.

Many use it to enhance their athletic performance, help prevent injuries, help heal from injuries, manage pain, and improve their overall health. Some golfers, like Masters Tournament winner Jordan Spieth, have a chiropractor who travels with him on a full-time basis and provides treatments several times a day.

Olympic Teams and Chiropractic

At the Olympics, the best of the best compete – and put their bodies through a lot of stress and punishment in the process. Most Olympic teams have two chiropractors who travel with them in an official capacity.

After practice or competition, they will get treatments to keep their bodies at optimal performance level. If any of the athletes sustain injuries, the chiropractors can help to manage pain and help heal the injury. Studies show that most injuries that are treated with chiropractic care heal faster and more complete.

The MLB, NBA, and NHL Choose Chiropractic

Most of the teams in the NHL, NBA, and MLB either have a chiropractor they refer to that is outside or their organization or they have one on staff. This means that not only are chiropractors treating athletes, but they are also treating some of the best athletes in the world.

These people make a living based on how well their bodies perform so it stands to reason they would not turn to just any type of treatment or trend. They choose to reap the benefits of the tried and true chiropractic care.

Chiropractic for Athletes

Athletes know the many benefits that they can get from regular chiropractic care. Some of the top include:

  • It is drug-free and non-invasive.
  • It is very effective in pain management.
  • It can reverse the punishment that the body undergoes while participating in sports.
  • It can help prevent injury.
  • It is very effective in treating most sports injuries.
  • It helps to enhance athletic performance

If you play sports, even if you enjoy a game of touch football on the weekends, you might benefit from chiropractic care. If it’s good enough for the pros, it’s good enough for you!

The Basic Science of Human Knee Menisci | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900

The Basic Science of Human Knee Menisci | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

The knee is one of the most complex joints in the human body, consisting of the thigh bone, or femur, the shin bone, or tibia, and the kneecap, or patella, among other soft tissues. Tendons connect the bones to the muscles while ligaments connect the bones of the knee joint. Two wedge-shaped pieces of cartilage, known as the meniscus, provide stability to the knee joint. The purpose of the article below is to demonstrate as well as discuss the anatomy of the knee joint and its surrounding soft tissues.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

The meniscus is cartilage which provides structural and functional integrity to the knee. The menisci are two pads of fibrocartilaginous tissue which spread out friction in the knee joint when it undergoes tension and torsion between the shin bone, or tibia, and the thigh bone, or femur. The understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the knee joint is essential towards the understanding of knee injuries and/or conditions. Evaluation of Patients Presenting with Knee Pain: Part I. | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

Knee pain is a common health issue among athletes and the general population alike. Although symptoms of knee pain can be debilitating and frustrating, knee pain is often a very treatable health issue. The knee is a complex structure made up of three bones: the lower section of the thighbone, the upper region of the shinbone, and the kneecap.

Powerful soft tissues, such as the tendons and ligaments of the knee as well as the cartilage beneath the kneecap and between the bones, hold these structures together in order to stabilize and support the knee. However, a variety of injuries and/or conditions can ultimately lead to knee pain. The purpose of the article below is to evaluate patients with knee pain.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

Knee pain is a common health issue which can be caused by sports injuries, automobile accident injuries, or by an underlying health issue, such as arthritis. The most common symptoms of knee injury include pain and discomfort, swelling, inflammation and stiffness. Because treatment for knee pain varies according to the cause, it’s essential for the individual to receive proper diagnosis for their symptoms. For more information, please feel free to ask Dr. Jimenez or contact us at (915) 850-0900.

What is Knee Plica Syndrome? | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900

What is Knee Plica Syndrome? | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

The knee is a made up of a variety of complex soft tissues. Enclosing the knee joint is a fold at its membrane known as the plica. The knee is encapsulated by a fluid-filled structure called the synovial membrane. Three of these capsules, known as the synovial plicae, develop around the knee joint throughout the fetal stage and are absorbed before birth.

However, during one research study in 2006, researchers found that 95 percent of patients undergoing arthroscopic surgery had remnants of their synovial plicae. Knee plica syndrome occurs when the plica becomes inflamed, generally due to sports injuries. This often takes place in the center of the kneecap, known as medial patellar plica syndrome.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

Knee plica syndrome, commonly referred to as medial patellar plica syndrome, is a health issue which occurs when the plica, a structure which surrounds the synovial capsule of the knee, becomes irritated and inflamed. Knee plica syndrome can occur due to sports injuries, automobile accident injuries, and slip-and-fall accidents, among other types of health issues. The symptoms of knee plica syndrome may be mistaken for chondromalacia patella. Diagnostic imaging can help diagnose the problem to continue with treatment. For more information, please feel free to ask Dr. Jimenez or contact us at (915) 850-0900.

What is Osgood-Schlatter Disease? | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900

What is Osgood-Schlatter Disease? | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

Osgood-Schlatter disease is a common cause of knee pain in growing adolescents. It is characterized by the inflammation of the site below the knee where the tendon from the kneecap, or the patellar tendon, attaches to the shinbone, or tibia. Osgood-Schlatter disease occurs during growth spurts when muscles, bones, tendons, and other tissues shift rapidly.

Physical activities can place additional stress on the bones, muscles, tendons and other complex structures of young athletes. Children and adolescents who participate in running and jumping sports have a higher chance of developing this condition. However, less active children and adolescents may also experience this well-known health issue.

In the majority of instances, Osgood-Schlatter disease will resolve on its own and the pain can be managed with over-the-counter drugs and/or medications. Stretches and exercises can also help improve strength, flexibility and mobility. Alternative treatment options, such as chiropractic care, can also help relieve pain and restore the patient’s well-being.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

Osgood-Schlatter disease is the inflammation of the bone, cartilage and/or tendon at the top of the shinbone, or tibia, where the tendon attaches to the kneecap, or patella. Osgood-Schlatter disease is considered to be an overuse injury rather than a disorder or condition. Osgood-Schlatter disease is one of the most common causes of knee pain in children and adolescents. Although it can be painful, the health issue generally goes away within 12 to 24 months. For more information, please feel free to ask Dr. Jimenez or contact us at (915) 850-0900.

What is Patellar Tendinitis? | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

Patellar tendinitis is a common health issue characterized by the inflammation of the tendon which joins the kneecap, or patella, to the shinbone, or tibia. The knee pain associated with this problem may range from mild to severe depending on the circumstances of the knee injury.

Patellar tendinitis, or jumper’s knee, is a well-known sports injury among athletes who play in basketball and volleyball. Among recreational volleyball players, an estimated 14.4 percent of them have jumper’s knee, where the incidence is even higher for professional athletes. An estimated 40 to 50 percent of elite volleyball players have patellar tendinitis.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

Patellar tendinitis, also known as “jumper’s knee”, is a common cause of knee pain for many athletes. While it frequently occurs as a result of repetitive or continuous jumping, research studies have demonstrated that patellar tendinitis may also be associated with stiff ankle movements and ankle sprains, among other types of sports injuries. Blood test can detect concussions even days later - CBS News | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it
Researchers say a blood biomarker can confirm that a concussion occurred and may eventually help guide treatment
Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

Concussions can be tricky to diagnose. Making it even harder, sometimes people brush off a head injury at first and only days later decide to see a doctor.

But soon physicians may have a new tool to help. A study by researchers from Orlando Regional Medical Center shows that a simple blood test can detect whether or not someone has suffered a concussion as long as a week after the initial injury. The test may even eventually help guide treatment in individuals.

The study included 584 patients with trauma-related injuries who visited Orlando Regional Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center. Half had brain-related injuriesand half had other types of traumatic injuries, such as broken bones.

Luckily, James Hill and his daughter Madison Hill went to visit Dr. Alex Jimenez and he has tremendously helped her recover after every injury. Together, they have learned to trust in chiropractic care, particularly following Dr. Alex Jimenez's innovative therapy procedures and techniques. Mr. Hill expresses his gratitude as well as just how much Dr. Alex Jimenez's understanding in sports injury therapy has greatly enlarged his general comprehension of the body's healing procedure. After Madison endured a recent ankle sprain, she was instantly reassured by Dr. Alex Jimenez regarding how much quicker she would return-to-play through chiropractic care. James Hill and Madison Hill highly recommend Dr. Alex Jimenez as the non-surgical selection for volleyball sports injuries, among others.

Ankle Sprain Chiropractic Treatment

Every year, countless young athletes engage in high school sports. However, once an injury occurs, it may become a problem which may result in them having to discontinue their specific sport if not treated properly. The pressure to keep on participating in the sport or physical activity can cause young athletes to not follow appropriate recovery guidelines, which may then lead to more harm with long-term consequences. Sports injuries among young athletes fall into two key groups: overuse injuries and severe injuries. Both types include injuries to the soft tissues and bones. Whether an injury is severe or due to overuse, a young athlete who develops a symptom that impacts their athletic performance should be diagnosed accordingly by a health care professional. Sports accidents that are untreated can cause permanent disability. Many high school sports injuries can be prevented through appropriate conditioning and instruction.

Patellofemoral Syndrome: As the weather warms and spring is in full swing, more and more runners are heading outside, hitting the pavement to train for upcoming races or to just step up their game after a long winter. While there are some die hard runners who don’t let even the most brutal winter stop them, most tend to retreat indoors, waiting for warmer days and a more pleasant environment. Unfortunately, increased activity can also lead to an increased risk of injury, particularly patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), also known as runner’s knee.

What Is Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome?

Runner’s knee is often used to describe PFPS, but runner’s knee is actually a broader term describing several different knee injuries or ailments. PFPS is a painful condition that is caused when the tissue that is between the femur (thigh bone) and the patella (kneecap) becomes inflamed or irritated.

Most people will notice pain in the front portion or anterior part of the knee, but pain can be experienced in other parts of the knee and even back pain may occur. Running increases the discomfort, as does sitting for long periods and going up or down stairs.

The causes of PFPS can also vary widely. Overuse is often the first thing that people think, but a problem with the way the knee is aligned is actually the most common reason.

If the patella is not properly aligned, when it moves through the groove that is at the end of the femur, it causes irritation to the surrounding tissues. This usually happens because the muscles and joints are out of balance.

For instance, if the quad muscle on one side is weaker than the other side it throws the entire system out of balance, causing the knee to become misaligned. This leads to knee pain and discomfort.

Treatment For Patellofemoral Syndrome - Runner’s Knee

When treating PFPS, rest is usually first on the list, followed by icing the area to reduce inflammation. Once the pain is under control, the next step is to determine what is causing the problem. It is important to rule out more serious conditions or injuries first in order to determine the best course of treatment.

If it is indeed PFPS, strengthening the muscles in and around the knee is generally the first step in treatment. It is important that the muscle strength is balanced so that the knee can be properly aligned. Getting a good pair of running shoes is also recommended so that future injury can be prevented.

Chiropractic For Runner’s Knee

Runner’s knee, or PFPS, responds very well to chiropractic treatment. The chiropractor is able to do a complete exam and find the cause of the problem, then tailor the treatment accordingly. This is typically done on a case by case basis with treatment that is based on the individual’s unique needs. The chiropractor may do various chiropractic alignments and manipulations on the spine, hip, ankle, and knee in order to bring the body back into proper balance.

The chiropractor may also recommend other complimentary treatments including special supplements, dietary adjustments, and an exercise plan. The chiropractor may also recommend certain stretching exercises to aid in healing. Kinesio taping is another common treatment that may be used in conjunction with chiropractic care. It is particularly beneficial when there is a muscular strength imbalance. The tape can help support the weaker muscle group.

Chiropractic care is a very effective treatment for patellofemoral syndrome and the associated knee pain. It works to correct the problem by bringing the body back into proper alignment, allowing it to function as it should.

Evaluation of Patients Presenting with Knee Pain | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

The knee is the largest joint in the human body, where the complex structures of the lower and upper legs come together. Consisting of three bones, the femur, the tibia, and the patella which are surrounded by a variety of soft tissues, including cartilage, tendons and ligaments, the knee functions as a hinge, allowing you to walk, jump, squat or sit. As a result, however, the knee is considered to be one of the joints that are most prone to suffer injury. A knee injury is the prevalent cause of knee pain.

A knee injury can occur as a result of a direct impact from a slip-and-fall accident or automobile accident, overuse injury from sports injuries, or even due to underlying conditions, such as arthritis. Knee pain is a common symptom which affects people of all ages. It may also start suddenly or develop gradually over time, beginning as a mild or moderate discomfort then slowly worsening as time progresses. Moreover, being overweight can increase the risk of knee problems. The purpose of the following article is to discuss the evaluation of patients presenting with knee pain and demonstrate their differential diagnosis.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

A knee injury caused by sports injuries, automobile accidents, or an underlying condition, among other causes, can affect the cartilage, tendons and ligaments which form the knee joint itself. The location of the knee pain can differ according to the structure involved, also, the symptoms can vary. The entire knee may become painful and swollen as a result of inflammation or infection, whereas a torn meniscus or fracture may cause symptoms in the affected region. What is a Quadriceps Tendon Rupture? | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

The tendons are powerful soft tissues which connect the muscles to the bones. One of these tendons, the quadriceps tendon, works together with the muscles found at the front of the thigh in order to straighten the leg. A quadriceps tendon rupture can affect an individual’s quality of life.

A quadriceps tendon rupture can be a debilitating injury and it usually requires rehabilitation and surgical interventions to restore knee function. These type of injuries are rare. Quadriceps tendon ruptures commonly occur among athletes who perform jumping or running sports.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

The quadriceps tendon is the large tendon found just above the kneecap, or patella, which allows us to straighten out our knee. While the quadriceps tendon is a strong, fibrous cord which can withstand tremendous amounts of force, sports injuries or other health issues may lead to a quadriceps tendon rupture. Quadriceps tendon ruptures are debilitating problems which can affect a patient’s quality of life. For more information, please feel free to ask Dr. Jimenez or contact us at (915) 850-0900.

What is Chondromalacia Patellae? | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

Chondromalacia patellae, also referred to as runner’s knee, is a health issue in which the cartilage beneath the patella, or kneecap, becomes soft and ultimately degenerates. This problem is prevalent among young athletes, however, it may also develop in older adults who suffer from arthritis of the knee.

Sports injuries like chondromalacia patellae are frequently regarded as an overuse injury. Taking some time off from participating in physical activities and exercise may produce superior outcomes. In the instance that the individual’s health issues are due to improper knee alignment, rest may not offer pain relief. Symptoms of runner’s knee include knee pain and grinding sensations.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

Chondromalacia patellae is characterized as the inflammation of the underside of the patella, or kneecap, caused by the softening of the cartilage surrounding the soft tissues of the knee joint. This well-known health issue is generally caused due to sports injuries in young athletes, although chondromalacia patellae may also occur in older adults with arthritis in the knee. Chiropractic care can help restore strength and balance to the knee joint and its surrounding soft tissues. For more information, please feel free to ask Dr. Jimenez or contact us at (915) 850-0900.

What Is Sinding-Larsen-Johansson Syndrome? | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

Sinding-Larsen-Johansson, or SLJ, syndrome is a debilitating knee condition that most commonly affects teens during periods of rapid growth. The kneecap, or patella, is attached to the shinbone, or tibia, from the patellar tendon. The tendon connects to an expansion plate at the bottom of the kneecap throughout growth.

Repetitive stress on the patellar tendon can make the growth plate within the knee become inflamed and irritated. SLJ mainly develops in children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 15 because that is when most people experience growth spurts. SLJ is most common in young athletes due to excess or repetitive strain in the knee.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

Sinding-Larsen-Johansson, or SLJ, syndrome is a juvenile osteochondrosis which affects the patella tendon in the kneecap which attaches to the inferior pole of the patella in the shinbone. Commonly characterized by knee pain and inflammation, SLJ is considered an overuse knee injury rather than a traumatic injury. Sinding-Larsen-Johansson syndrome is similar to Osgood-Schlatter syndrome. For more information, please feel free to ask Dr. Jimenez or contact us at (915) 850-0900.

Piriformis Syndrome Management | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900

Piriformis Syndrome Management | El Paso, TX Chiropractor | Call: 915-850-0900  | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

The piriformis muscle extends to the top of the femur around the sciatic nerve. The femur, as previously mentioned, is the large bone in the upper leg. The piriformis muscle functions by helping the thigh move from side to side. A piriformis muscle spasm, or any other type of injury and/or condition along the piriformis muscle, can place pressure on the sciatic nerve and cause pain and discomfort. The result is piriformis syndrome.

Piriformis Syndrome Causes and Symptoms

Sciatic nerve pain, or sciatica, is one of the most prevalent symptoms of piriformis syndrome. The pain and discomfort, however, may be felt in another part of the body. This is known as referred pain. Other common symptoms of piriformis syndrome include tingling sensations and numbness; tenderness; difficulty sitting along with pain while sitting and pain in the buttocks and thighs with physical activities.

The piriformis muscle can easily become damaged or injured from periods of inactivity or an excessive amount of exercise. Some common causes of piriformis syndrome include overuse; repetitive movements involving the legs; sitting for lengthy periods of time; lifting heavy objects; and extensive stair climbing. Sports injuries or automobile accident injuries can also harm the piriformis muscle and cause it to compress the sciatic nerve.

Dr. Alex Jimenez D.C.,C.C.S.T's insight:

Sciatica is a collection of symptoms in the low back, which radiate down one or both legs. Sciatica is generally caused by the compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, the largest nerve in the human body. One of the most common health issues that cause sciatic nerve pain is called piriformis syndrome. The piriformis muscle stretches from the front of the sacrum, the bone between the hipbones on the pelvis. For more information, please feel free to ask Dr. Jimenez or contact us at (915) 850-0900.

Sports Chiropractic Treatment

Exercising is important for overall health and wellness, but occasionally, an individual can suffer an injury when playing sports or engaging in physical activities. Accidents, poor training methods, or improper equipment can cause them. Some people today get hurt because they aren't in shape. Not warming up or stretching enough can also lead to injuries. Treatment often begins with the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation) method to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and speed recovery. Other possible treatments include pain relievers, rehabilitation, and sometimes surgery, if needed.

Knee Injuries And Chiropractic Care | El Paso, TX. | Video

Knee Injuries And Chiropractic Care | El Paso, TX. | Video | Sports Injuries | Scoop.it

Knee Injuries: Alex Jimenez was a wrestler for 15 years when he suffered an ACL tear. Once diagnosis confirmed his knee injury, Alex Jimenez began an extensive care regimen, consisting of chiropractic care with Dr. Alex Jimenez and crossfit rehabilitation, in order to help him recover. Now that Alex Jimenez dedicates himself to health and fitness, he's always mindful of engaging in the proper exercises to avoid suffering another sports injury. With a positive mentality, Alex Jimenez was able to find his life plan when his ACL tear healed completely.

Chiropractic Care For Knee Injuries

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the most commonly injured ligaments of the knee. The prevalence of ACL injury is higher in athletes who take part in sports, such as basketball, soccer, skiing, and football. Roughly half of ACL injuries occur together with injury to the meniscus, articular cartilage, or other ligaments. Furthermore, patients may have lumps of the bone beneath the cartilage surface. These might be seen on a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan and might indicate injury to the overlying articular cartilage.
