Many people enjoy going to sports venues but very few realize the dangers associated with mass gatherings. So much goes on behind the scenes to ensure the security of everyone attending.

Charles Edwards's curator insight, May 24, 2013 12:34 PM

Cricket may not be popular in the western hemisphere, but what happened here is a grand example of what teams need to avoid when it comes to ticket sales and box office management.  This applies to all levels of sporting events; from high school to the big leagues.

This article addresses the keeping the fans safe. Although it is important of maintaining good sight lines to see the game, keeping fans safe should also be a priority. Maintaining railing only to code seems to be out of date. Maybe when the code was established, the risk of them falling was lower. Raising the minimum height of the railings while still maintaining the line of sight for fans would be a good way to keep them safe while enjoying the game.
