College Coaches Need Schooling on Ethics

College Coaches Need Schooling on Ethics | Sports Ethics: Moran, S. | Scoop.it

Today's topic? The rampant insincerity among college football and basketball coaches. Well, that, along with why fans and players should consider dangling these folks over the edge of either the stadium or arena on campus by their toes.

Along with being a great coach comes many ethical standards that a coach must adhere too. Many of them are common sense, but some are not so much on the surface. Following and abiding by standards can be hard on a coach. Although when followed the job the coach does would be much easier and without so much drama.

Interesting enough that this occured over 10 and 11 year old sports. It is just eye opening that a coaches pressure is so intense that they feel they must lower themselves to this level in order to win a game. This happens in many cases involving sports. Coaches have a lot riding on if they have a winning season. Sports have turned from fun to WIN.

All coaches should be aware of how to safeguard themselves from situations that might put them at risk of unwarranted accusations. Good article

Jason Cain's curator insight, March 16, 2014 12:46 PM

Athletes are influenced very easily by their coaches. There is a thing line that a coach must not cross when working with individuals especially with athletes of the opposite sex. Texting individuals has become a code of ethics concern when texting involves just one individual. I feel that group text that involve practice or games concerns should be fine.

Adam Odell's curator insight, July 20, 2014 3:10 PM

Coaches should maintain a professional level with all individuals of the team.

This is a prime example of what kids today emulate. If the parents are doing it, then why is it not for the children?

Adam Odell's curator insight, July 20, 2014 3:12 PM

Coaching ethics not only comes from the coach but also comes from the first coach an individual has that is their parents. Parents should also be within the guidelines of Ethics and morals in sports and in life.

David Foster's curator insight, April 27, 2015 8:01 AM

A great article of how not act as a coach, parent, or player. It is up to the management to ensure that all ethical behavior is being followed and kept honorable.
