Jesse Huang's curator insight, September 28, 2014 5:29 PM

After reading this article I learned some aspects of what it takes to become a game changer in terms of sport performance and business. The informational that I found interesting and educational was the list of basketball players that were considered as game changers. For example, Abdul Jabbar and Michael Jordan. Jabbar changed the way how people in the basketball industry used to think a center's position should be played and Jordan changed the way on how a shooting guard's position should be played. However, the highlight of the story is the focused on how LeBron James changed the business aspect of sports and that is why I chose this article. I chose this article because of 'The Decision' made by LeBron James in the summer of 2011. He made the decision to join the Miami Heat with Wade and Bosh and at first, he received criticisms for doing so because he was considered changing the 'free agent game'. However, by doing so he started a new trend that Dwight Howard also attempted to follow. Having said this, this will help me in the sport management industry in the future if I become an agent this could be one of the moves that I can take into consideration and tell my athlete about because of the combination of superstars, the sale of season tickets, merchandises and other sporting goods will mostly likely all increase and that is a positive factor for sports businesses, agents and athletes.
